"Dispositivo mecánico utilizado en el tendido de líneas aéreas de distribución con cables de aluminio – acero.
Aprisiona al conductor mientras se realiza su tensado. También se llama **mordaza de tracción.
La rana para cables de aluminio presenta mayor superficie de contacto que la de cables de cobre, al ser un material que puede sufrir daños más fácilmente. Además va recubierta de materiales blandos como el plomo."


Al extremo del cilindro inferior y a través de una **mordaza especial, llamada rana, se aprisiona el conductor mientras se realiza la operación de tensado.
