Med begreppet bokslutstransaktion avses främst periodiseringar av inkomster och utgifter som hänför sig till två eller flera räkenskapsår. I begreppet inryms emellertid även andra typer av transaktioner som skall bokföras när ett årsbokslut eller en årsredovisning upprättas, t.ex. avskrivningar, uppskrivningar och omföringar inom eget kapital.
