Swedish to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Construction / Civil Engineering | | Swedish term or phrase: Sidoentreprenör | As one of the defined terms:
Sidoentrprenör: Andra entreprenörer som under egna kontraktet med beställaren fått uppdrag att utföra arbeten som har beröringspunkter med kontraktarbetena.
It is clear from the context what it means, but I can't seem to come up with the right word in English. The best I have come up with so far is "parallel contractor" (for which the there is a reference below), can anyone confirm or dispute this? Thanks

Sidoentreprenör är den som vid sidan av entreprenören utför entreprenad åt beställaren i anslutning till eller inom arbetsområdet.

The proffered translations "sub contractor" and "joint contractor" are thus both wrong. |

| Grading comment Thanks for the link. Although with so few google hits for this expression, I think we have to accept that it is not a well-used English term. I went for parallel contractor in the end, as at least my link has a clear academic reference as a translation of the Swedish. 2 KudoZ points were awarded for this answer |

Explanation: Take any contract. In most of them there is the provison that both parties can use subcontractors pending approval of the other party to the Contract. Means both the Customer and the Supplier can have subcontractors.
