This is obviously power loss from the overhead line/catenary. What do kråkorna have to do with here though? None of the meanings of the word I can find make sense here - unless it is an idiom, rarely used at that.

Explanation:
till kråkorna = to waste/loss

elda för kråkorna = waste

I don't think we they mean "waste" here, but rather the normal electricity losses during transmission

  -> Thanks! Well the idiom means "waste", but the context here suggest "loss", as it is part of the deal when you transmit electricity and accounted for in advance. "Waste" here would imply that it could have been avoided.
