Swedish to English translations [PRO] Education / Pedagogy
Swedish term or phrase:språkpedagog
"Tillsammans med modern flyttade han [Jean-Paul Sartre] till morfadern, den kände språkpedagogen Karl Schweitzer."
Referring to Thomas's thoughts. Google is very useful indeed but not altogether reliable. When it comes to the crunch there is nothing better than a check of standard dictionaries in which pedagogue is given as, eg, a teacher or educator (Collins)
From google results I get the impression that a "språkpedagog" primarily works with helping people speak their usual or native language while "language teacher" suggests a person teaching people a foreign language (i.e. not their native one). So among the suggested answers I am leaning towards "language pedagogue" although it does not give very many google hits.
Another possibility may perhaps be "language therapist", though I am inclined to think this refers more to a person helping people with the motoric or bodily aspects of speech.
