One difficulty is that on some CVs it appears beside ´team player´, and then it is a question of whether to leave it out or find some other expression.
As you say, courteous or unretentious might be appropriate in other contexts. I have only ever seen the expression on CVs, but I don´t specialise so much in Swedish.
Last time I had this problem, based on the other documents and the person's background, I wrote ´more interested in team goals than personal ambition´, but that is a long phrase for one word.
In Denmark Swedes are sometimes believed to be very law-abiding and bound by rules, which should not be taken to the point of inflexibility or lack of initiative, and maybe Swedes want to defend themselves against being seen in that light.
It seems to be a very Swedish expression, and hard to render in English, especially if some of the international buzzwords are included for good measure! |
