Swedish to English translations [PRO] Law: Contract(s) / Medical supplier contract | | Swedish term or phrase: FÖRRÅDSFÖRSÖRJNING | | I just want to be 100% sure of the meaning of "FÖRRÅD" in this particular context. A contract has been agreed between a Swedish County Council and a healthcare provider. The object of the contract is FÖRRÅDSFÖRSÖRJNING. The following sentece reads: Region xxxxx har beslutat att driften av sjukvårdsförrådet på xxxxx i Lund skall upplåtas till en privat part, som upphandlats i konkurrens. I understand "sjukvårdsförrådet" to be the medical supplies depot, so is FÖRRÅD "storage", or should it be something like "stock" i.e. stock provision, or storage provision. I'd be grateful for your thoughts. |

| | (drug) stock management | Explanation: I am familiar with this process in Swedish hospitals. The usual scenario is the the pharmacy looks after nearly all aspects of the medicine supply to the wards ie go the the supply room and check what needs to be ordered, place order, process/compile order, distribute/put new stock onto shelves, rotate stock and check expiry dates. Some store medicines in a machine "lakemedelsautomat" but I think most still have them om shelves in a separate room.
I think the term encompasses not only supply but also other services, but perhaps you can read that further down in your text.
I also assume that it means läkemedelsförrådsförsörjning. Sjukvårdsförråd could however include other non-pharmaceutical items such as syringes, dressings etc
an alternative is a longer term such as supply and maintenence of drug stocks or drug stocks supply and management upport or similar, or a more general term like inventory management
You might find some useful terminology in the references

Matthew, I think you need a term that covers ordering, supply and maintenace (and possible othet support services), but not storage- usually the hospital is responsible for the actual storage facility while the pharmacy is responsible for its contents. |

Asker: Tania - thanks, this sounds good. It does refer to medical supplies however I think "management" as you suggest is probably the best solution as it seems to cover supply and storage.
