Det som anses nödvändigt för ett familjehushåll undantas från utmätning och vid konkurs. De saker som ingår i beneficium kallas beneficiegods.

Nothing to do with beneficient, which, as far as I known, is not Swedish (despite Gullberg).

No doubt someone can come up with a better English phrase.

Certain classes of property may not be distrained. This is the case of necessaries such as the following:
• clothes and other items for the debtor’s personal use, to a reasonable value,
• furniture, household appliances and other equipment necessary for a home and its maintenance.
• tools and other equipment necessary for the debtor’s occupation or vocational training,
• personal belongings, e.g. medals of honour and sporting trophies that have so great a personal value for the debtor that it would be unfair to distrain them.
