First you make a prototype (prov) then you go into (mass) production. Or have I missed something?

disagree  George Hopkins: First you make a prototype, then probably run a pre-series batch, and then go into series production. If your product is a success maybe mass production will follow. Wikipedia gives an explanation of 'mass production'.

neutral  Graham Timmins: I hesitate to disagree but I never heard this phrase. Google hits for this exact phrase : 0. Maybe you have some UK / US refs?

  -> Take another look at Google. Remember too that manufacturing is 'only' part of production.
neutral  Thomas Johansson: "Series manufacturing" would be "serietillverkning" in Swedish, not "seriemässig tillverkning". // The difference is the same as in English: "seriemässig" means "having sg to do with series", "serie-" would be more limited in meaning.
