Swedish to English translations [PRO] Marketing - Marketing / Market Research / fitness routine for losing weight
Swedish term or phrase:Ombytt motion
För att förbättra styrka och kondition behöver du regelbunden motion där du belastar muskler och syreupptagning lite extra. Vi förespråkar ombytt, pulshöjande motion 2-3 gånger i veckan.
Cannot find anything like this in English. Am asking the customer, but does anyone have an idea?
Explanation: A suggestion - assuming a distinction is being made between normal daily physical activity such as walking and formal exercise such as organised sport, gym sessions, etc.
Increasing Overall Activity
Step 1 : Distinguish the Three Forms of Activity
The therapist should explain to the patient that it is useful to distinguish three forms of activity:
Being sedentary (strictly speaking, a form of inactivity). This refers to sitting or lying down (eg, watching television; being at a desk at work, resting in bed).
Lifestyle activity. This refers to incidental activity that is part of day-to-day life. It includes walking, standing, climbing stairs, household chores, light gardening, ordinary cycling, and gentle swimming.
Formal exercise. This is what people generally think of as exercise. To be classed as "formal exercise" in this context, it should involve exertion to the point that the pulse and respiratory rate are increased. It includes jogging, moderate-to-fast swimming, brisk walking or power walking, and fast cycling. http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=YqOBFYPy2eQC&pg=PA96&lpg=...
Before we talk about getting motivated to exercise, let's define physical activity and exercise—because there is a difference. Physical activity is any muscular activity that results in energy expenditure. Exercise is a subset of physical activity. Exercise is more vigorous (heart rate, breathing, and sweating all increase), sustained (it usually lasts 20 to 30 minutes), may require special clothing and a shower afterward, and usually involves a formal plan. It turns out that both are good for you, and here's why. http://staff.kfupm.edu.sa/MC/medasen/Exercise start.htm
here they are talking about cardiovascuar and muscle strengthening exercise and calling it ombytt motion( I have not heard that term before) There is increasing evidence that low intencity exercise is also effective to ncrease fitness ie. walking up the stairs at work which you wouldnt get changed for
like the very popular floorball. (Ur still be stingy as to readership - might help in figuring out the best alternative ...unless uv heard from your customer?) Do let us know your final solution...
Ok, text seems a bit strangely phrased - I agree what you say above, they actually mean sports where you have to get changed into "sports" gear. Guess you would probably have to write it out a bit in English to make it understandable to whoever is reading - ie stating excerise/sports clothes or similar.
Found this further on in the text:
Numera vet man att även vardagsmotion det vill säga lågintensiv rörelse då du inte byter om, är ett väldigt effektivt komplement till ombytt träning.
Does this mean "exercise where you get changed"? The mystery continues...

Varied exercise
Explanation: Not 100% but it seems to me they recommend varied exercise 2-3 times per week (ie, not just lifting weights, or only running on a treadmill but changing between them).

Explanation: Or in this case, alternating cardio workouts. Alternative for workouts is exercise routines...
Pretty much standard practice - crossfit, interval training.... Objective is to mix it up so you actually achieve something.

The customer wanted planned exercise, which is pretty much the same -that you get changed.
