agree  David Friedman: cultural personality: the literal translation of the term works fine in English, may have even come from English originally, no need to rewrite

neutral  Facundo Ortiz: Well, it definitely depends on the context. If we're talking into account a person who is dead and has left a big cultural legacy in that society, I think "cultural icon" is the best option. For instance, Elvis Presley was a "kulturpersonlighet".

agree  asptech: "celebrity" would fit the description best today. It would help to know the name (or historical context) of this "kulturpersonlighet".

neutral  Anna Herbst: Cultural personality, NO. Cultural figure, yes. Celebrity, not likely.

disagree  Anna Herbst: Not the same thing as "kulturpersonlighet".

-> I think it's pretty arbitrary to say that. There's not even enough context to come up with a good translation. Who do you know this person is? How can you be so sure? PÖSS!
