| Turkish term or phrase: çiğirtatan? cığırtatan? | Greetings,
Today, in Yenifoça, I was shown a green ground plant with more or less oval green fruits, about the size of large walnuts. The man who showed me this plant had rather a heavy accent, but I think he said something like the above i.e. çiğirtatan or cığırtatan or something like that.
The plant, he continued, is poisonous, and if you step on it the liquid contents (çiğirt? cığırt?) squirt out. If it gets you in the eye it can blind you or even kill you.
All the best,
Simon |
