Turkish term or phrase: Laf olsun beri gelsin.
Hi,

My wife used this when I left the TV on (without sound) although no one wanted to watch. We realise that it has something to do with purposelessness but she wasn't able to explain exactly.

What exactly does “beri” mean here, please?

it can be used for actions as well as utterances which are out of place and does not serve any purpose.
