Ukrainian term or phrase: Slobozhanje
It's from a newspaper article about Ukraine today. Probably it has to deal with geographical regioning or something.
English translation:residents of North-Eastern Ukraine
The word comes from 'Slobodskaya Ukraina' - historical region, presently part of Russia and Ukraine comprising Kharkov, part of Sumy region and adjacent areas of Russia. Formerly it belonged to Russia. The current name for this part of mostly Russian-speaking Ukraine is often called 'Slobozhanshchina'.
