Explanation: riwayat usually means that the thing being referred to is commonly practiced or observed by the said segment of society. For example, it is customary in many societies in Pakistan for the close relatives and friends to give parties to the newly weds, sometimes daily, for a couple of weeks. I guess another term would be tradition but customary would be my choice.
