Hi all, I looked around but can't seem to find any info on the following: Is there some way to do a word count in Excel (Office XP) without the onerous task of counting manually? I have a series of long, long docs I need to invoice for. Any help is appreciated. Nancy | | | Practicount, Nancy! | Jul 17, 2004 |

Just Ctrl + A Ctrl + C in he Excel file (one sheet a time) and Ctrl + V in the Word file, and you're able to use the standard Word word count. | | | You can use Trados as well | Jul 17, 2004 |
Hi Nancy, Apart from Practicount, you could also use Trados. Just open T-Window for Excel, then click on Tools ==> Analyse and add all files (you don't need to set up a project). Giuliana | |

All you need to do is -start Word -open your Excel file as a Word document, just as you open any other file in Word: click the File tab above, choose Open, and then choose your file in the window that pops up -the program will prompt you whether to open the whole workbook or one or more sheets; choose whichever you want -then count the words using Word's count tool, that's all! I don't know of any, but can't you somehow export it, for instance by cutting/pasting, to Word and count it there? Good Monday morning all, Thanks for your responses. I couldn't use T-Window for Excel, for some reason I keep getting a 'format not recognised' message. But transferring the text to Word should work out. Thanks for dragging me out of my fog! Michael, I checked out the link you added, but again, 119 Euro is a little steep, I find. OTOH, someone else reading this forum may decide it's just the thing. Have a fun & productive week, everyone!
