Going hourly rate for video transcription

Hi there,

Over the weekend I did a freelance job time coding and transcribing Spanish video into English for a non-Spanish speaking video editor. It was about six hours of work... anyone know what the going hourly rate for something like this is?

It's important to note that I received the videos on Saturday morning, and they needed them returned by Saturday evening.

I think it is from 4-15$/minute Sep 22, 2014

I think the rate is very much varied. I sometimes charge up to 15$/minute, other time I charge at down to the ground rate of 3$/minute.
Also, each market has different base price.

So, you've already done the work? Then you must surely know what you quoted? Please don't say you're trying to negotiate a price now, for something you've already delivered! If you are saying that then you'll have to accept whatever the agency deems is fair, I suppose. You're hardly in any position to negotiate now. I hope the agency is a fair and ethical one.

Charge what you normally charge for 6 hours of work and hope you get paid. It cannot be accurately calculated from minutes of video.

It will take you about a week-- be careful;l. Six hours may take about a week. Usually a 1 hr tape takes the whole day.

Edited: Ok --I am sorry--you said it took you six hours--not six hours of tapes. Charge them for 6 hours then--your average rate.
