If something is in the air, you feel that it is happening or about to happen:

Love/Change/Spring is in the air.

The metaphor is vividly alive.

[Edited at 2014-10-24 17:45 GMT]

Oct 25, 2014

Change is in the air:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dead_metaphor
A dead metaphor is a metaphor which has lost the original imagery of its meaning owing to extensive, repetitive popular usage. Because dead metaphors have a conventional meaning that differs from the original, they can be understood without knowing their earlier connotation.

Not just oil and bananas: In Ecuador, change is in the air
Yet change is afoot...Economic growth...first bond...reducing poverty and inequality...infrastructure...lured Canadian companies...international airport...

Change is in the Air居然有大写的A。

Change is in the Air Oct 25, 2014

EN:Change is in the Air,air的A大写。
DE:Gemacht, um zu verändern.
BR:Novas ideias estão no ar.
FR:Demain est entre vos mains.
ES:El cambio está en tus manos.
IT:Il domani nelle tue mani.
PT:A mudança está nas suas mãos.

Change is in the Air的“翻译”的概念上了来打转了。

Kenneth Woo,

The so-called dead metaphor 班门弄斧, according to the dictionary, "比喻在行家面前卖弄本领" - which, BTW, I apologize if I gave anyone here that wrong impression.

http://www.zdic.net/c/d/4/8587.htm

[display one's slight skill before an expert] 在鲁班门前挥舞斧头。

Similarly, according to several dictionaries, the so-called dead metaphor IN THE AIR "means people have a general feeling or expectation that something will happen in the near future".

http://www.1-language.com/eslidioms/intheair.htm

IN THE AIR

IN THE AIR means people have a general feeling or expectation that something will happen in the near future. This feeling among people is often not clearly defined. For example:

No one knew for sure what was going to happen that summer, but a change was in the air.

On the outside everyone seemed happy enough, but there was also a feeling in the air of being cheated.

~*~*~*~*~*

Change is in the Air
Based on that, IMO, as far as translation goes, the original Chinese slogan is a total failure.

As I said before:

Change is in the air means it is electrifying. The excitement is palpable!

In the Air 的双关含义 Oct 25, 2014

“Change is in the Air” implies that you should have a feeling that change is happening or about to happen in the Air series products.
