Waste of time Nov 20, 2014

I had to recover the image and go back to SP1.

You just wasted your time, fortunately removal of SP2 does not affect the system, software or previous projects. Just remove it and wait until resolution from SDL.

Please email me.... Nov 20, 2014

... and I can help you with this issue. But I need to be able to identify you in our licensing system to do it. The solution may be simple, but if you don't email me we'll never know.

So far only one person has contacted me and we have resolved it for him.

I have exactly the same error! Nov 21, 2014

...and I actually uninstall SR2 and re-install SR1 again to meet my deadline.

Now I'm too scared to install SR2 again.

Dear SDL support, if you have any workaround with this or any patches available, please share with me.

My Multi Term also give me a blank screen. No error msg, but I can't add anything.
I rollback this to SR1 too, but still the same.

Is this related?

I would be very grateful if all affected users followed this advice instead of posting in here. How can we help if you don't take the advice?

please email Paul Nov 21, 2014

I had the same problem and Paul Filkin solved it in 5 mn.
You need to send him an email.
This a license problem, but If you are a paying user of STUDIO it can be solved in 5 minutes.
regards
Ivan

That seems to be right. I am on a mission and will contact him in a few days once I am back.

Thanks Paul for all your help. It is good to know that this is not a bug after all. Your help and patience are indeed appreciated.

SDL support contact? Nov 21, 2014

OK. I just sent an email to him.

But how do you reach the support team to start with?
From my SDL page, I got impression that they don't offer help unless you pay for extra?

So, I was delighted when I saw this post as I saw 'SDL support' in the thread.
Is this the only way to reach SDL support?

What do i do when I come across to another problem with SDL again.
Post thread in proz.com again?

Hi Hiromi,

You have to select your product and look in a couple of places but it's not that hard to find. the page you need is this one.

Another place to see many resources we make available would be here. When you look at this you'll also see we have our own support community where you can also ask a question as long as you have a valid Studio 2011/2014 license. Just login with your MySDL credentials and you'll find it (best to use Chrome at the moment as we are updating the community platform we use and don't support MSIE or FF very well until the new one is in place).

An update on this problem Nov 21, 2014

Dear all,

We have an update on this problem that has been reported by a very small number of users in this forum.

The combination of the Int16 restriction and ‘Bigbird’ license edition were added to prevent invalid licenses being used with Studio 2014 SP2. If you are experiencing this problem, you should be able to resolve it by deactivating your license and then activating again with a valid license from your SDL MyAccount.

Valid activation codes start with “151”. You can see the activation code currently being used by clicking on the "Show activation code" link after opening the "Product Activation" window in the Help ribbon.

Valid activation codes do not start with “6139737”.

If, when you attempt to deactivate your license you find you cannot then you will probably have to perform an offline deactivation first using whatever code you used to attempt to activate the product in the first place. Once you have done this you will be able to reactivate the product using the correct license code in your MySDL Account.

If you are still having problems after this please log a case through the solution finder and we will try to help you resolve it.

Go to the Knowledgebase;

http://kb.sdl.com

Then go to the tab called Solution Finder ( http://kb.sdl.com/?cid=23&tab=sf ) and now go here;

Licensing Problems
- I use SDL Trados Studio / SDL Passsolo - 2011 or 2014
-- I receive an error message when (de-)activating my software
--- I have a Single User License
---- None of the provided solutions worked, or are relevant for me

Follow the route for your problem and if there is no answer that helps by the time you get to the end you'll be presented with a form to contact support. Complete all the fields in the form making sure your email address is entered correctly or nobody will be able to get back in touch with you.

Also use the Chrome browser to log the case if you have it; you'll get more success in completing the form.

Regards

Paul
