Despite the file being autosaved every 10 minutes (which I'm aware of each time because it can interfere with whatever you're translating at the time).
I've searched my computer for all files relevant to this job, and not a single one comes up as an autosaved version. Has this happened to anyone? Do I really have to retranslate all of the lost segments? I'm shocked that the data would be wiped from the TM.

Autosave file path

This is what Studio help says: Studio creates AutoSaved versions of the *.sdlxliff files which contain pending changes and puts them in the AutoSave folder, located at the same place where you save your project data. The default location for your Studio project data is the My Documents area.
So, can you browse to your project and find the file?

A crash won't wipe data from your TM, so either you weren't confirming segments and saving them in your TM at all, or you were doing so to a different TM (maybe a project TM?).

Thank you so much for your fast and helpful reply. I am a long-time user of another CAT tool and admit to having put off having to really learn this one. Easily located the saved file in the AutoSave folder once I new what to look for. I hadn't realized that as a temporary file it would not have the same file name as the original - which explains why my search did not locate it.

Your link was also very helpful for the explanation about the window possibly cutting off the update checkbox - which was the case here, and explains why the TM was not updated.

Happened to me too

It happened to me too. It was auto saving at regular intervals, and still, when it all crashed, I lost all the files. To me it happenes particularly with PDF Files converted for translation. It seems they "confuse" the system.
I save now myself every couple of minutes or every 10 segments.
