Thanks for the picture Apr 17, 2015

The new website section contains zero factual information about the actual features of this “new” version and instead contains only vague and ambiguous wordings that might as well be applicable to any Studio version released so far, and the “preview sheet” isn’t much better in this respect, although it does give you some clues about what to expect:

- AutoCorrect feature
- Ability to process noneditable PDF files
- User interface is to adapt to the way you use the program (somehow)
- New user interface style (if I were to guess, it’s probably going to copy the MS Office 2013 style)
- New user interface languages: Korean, Italian and Russian

Thanks for sharing, Dmitry. I agree - nothing but vague marketing blurb. Hopefully, detailed information is to follow. I won't hold my breath though that many long-standing bugs will have been corrected - anyone to accept the bet in my earlier post?

We probably have to accept that these new versions are not made to appeal to existing customers, but to attract new ones. Existing customers tend to remain customers. I'm experiencing just now how hard it is to switch to a different tool once you've got used to another one. I still think that CafeTran is a very promising candidate with an interesting set of features, but its extreme clumsiness makes it very hard to for me to let go of Studio. I guess many people are like me in that respect: They experience Studio as buggy and not designed with the translator in mind, but not as bad enough to abandon it altogether in favour of other tools.

My favourite tool still is Dejavu, which I've used since 1995, but as a lot of sdlxliff files and projects come my way, I have found it safest to invest in SDL Trados Studio to be certain the files and projects I return are OK as a last check. And the more I am using it, the more I get used to the way it works, which probably is how it is with most CAT tools.

AFAIK, 13 is a lucky number in China. SDL should think global, but it seems it does not!

If it is all about unlucky and lucky numbers, one would expect that Deja Vu X3 sales were great in China, at least in 2013.

When is/was year 2013 in the Chinese calendar? Apr 18, 2015

I suspect sales in USA is more important than in China for the moment at least.

And what year are we in according to the Chinese Calendar? The Moslems haven't even reached year 2000 yet, the Jews are nearing year 6000, so I doubt the Chinese would see any connection with 2013 and SDL Studio.

To be honest, such manner of presenting information about something that is posed to be a whole new product version rather than a content update is rather worrying, as I’d call such behaviour typical for a situation when a company has nothing to offer and is just milking the franchise.

I have a long list of such issues.

This will become a pattern.

Trados Studio 2015 editor - The "crazy cursor" bug Jul 7, 2015

Does anyone found working on the newly released Trados Studio 2015 found this bug?

Trados studio 2015 editor is driving me crazy.
The cursor moves before you type (jumps) in a random way and you end up typing over another word (apparently to the left or where the cursor were)

When can I expect SDL to be working on fixing that bug?

Windows 8.1

I am using Studio 2015 and have not experienced the abovementioned problem. To me it sounds like a mouse driver problem. Perhaps you should download the latest version and have it installed. That may fix it.

This is a bug.

This happened to me when I was trying to edit phrases or words in double quotes. The cursor would automatically move to the beginning of that phrase on the first key press.

Cursor bug? Jul 7, 2015

I'm still waiting for an answer to what now seems to be a related problem:

In my case, the cursor doesn't move into the next segment when I confirm a segment by hitting Ctrl + Enter.

Is there a general cursor bug in Studio 2015??

Cursor bug - YES Jul 11, 2015

I confirm it is a bug, and annoying.
I have kept running the editor in Studio 2014 and I have now been using also Studio 2015 a little more and this is only happening in Studio 2015. It is not related to the mouse. It happens when I have positioned my cursor and start typing. The cursor moves to the left a few words without any warning.
Please fix it for the benefit of all users.
I left a note to the Chat (seems not available often) and id not get any feedback form SDL.

On a positive note, the bug in editing the french word translating an English word in the Termbase Viewer (English to French languages) is gone. I sent a few notes about taht and nobody cared to fix it in Sstudio 2014.
What was happening and still happen in Studio 2014 was that each time the word entered has an accented character, the editor will stop (freeze) entering the following characters and will only resume if you place the cursor right after accented character with the mouse and click the left button.

Autocorrect? Jul 11, 2015

PaulPatruno wrote:

Sounds like an AutoCorrect bug. Try switching off different options in AutoCorrect (File tab>Options>Editor>AutoCorrect). In my case, I found that curly quotes can trigger this mouse behaviour.

This cursor bug is not going away. Does someone at Trados listen Jul 15, 2015

I cannot work one hour without being bugged a couple of times by this bug.
I looked up AutoCorrect option and could find any option to change that would be relevant here.
The but strike randomly.
Is Trados listening and now working on a fix.
Please
