Hi there, If anyone knows what do I have to do for Trados to appear on Word it would be much appreciated. Thanks. N. | | | Doesn't work that way | Aug 4, 2015 |
Hi Natalie, If by "Appear on Word" you mean to have Trados buttons in the MS Word ribbon, just like one had them for Trados 2007, the answer is that you cannot: SDL Trados Studio 2015 (just like SDL Trados Studio 2009, 2011 and 2014) works in a different way, as a completely separate application (in which you can, of course, translate MS Word files). Thanks a lot for your reply. Do you know by any chance how to amend this error? "An error ocurred whilst trying to determine the file version". It comes up every time I try to create a project. Cheers! N. | | | what kind of files are you trying to add? | Aug 4, 2015 |

Sorry, Richiardo, but I am a complete newbie at this and I'm at a loss. Thanks. N. | | | How to create a project in Studio | Aug 4, 2015 |
I haven't installed 2015 yet (I'm at version 2014 right now), so this could be a bit different in Studio 2015. How to create a project in Studio - Open Studio
- In the Welcome screen, Home tab, select "New Project"
- In the New Project window, select "Create a project based on a project template", and select the "Default" template - Click "Next"
- In the Project Details window, add a name for your project - Click "Next"

- In the Project Languages window, select a source and a target language for your project - Click "Next"
- In the Project Files window, click "Add Files..."
- In the Add files window, navigate to where your source files are, and select the files you need to translate - click "Open". One or more files should have been added to your project, at this point (and under the "Usage" column in the the Project files window you should see "Translatable" - click "Next" in the Project Files window
- In the Translation Memory and Automated Translation window, add one or more translation memories (if this is the first time you are using Studio, you may need to create the memories first, or you may need to convert them from Trados 2007 memories.)
There are more settings in the following screens, but you are basically done at this point: you can click "Finish" and your project is created. Of course, if you are seeing error messages (such as the one you mention), there may be something going wrong. Difficult to say what without seeing the files you need to translate, and the other settings you have. Have you tried to search for help on the SDL site? They have an extensive knowledge base.

I think your explanation works perfectly! I will save it in a doc file in case I need to get back to it. Thanks a lot for your time and have a nice week.
