ProZ.com powwow: Informal networkingMay 27, 2017, 4:00 pm United KingdomLondonIn personEnglish Venue: The King & Queen. 1 Foley Street, London W1P 7LE This is on the corner of Cleveland Street and Foley Street. See a map here. (if the spot is hard to find, look at the Warren Street Tube symbol, move exactly southwards to Cleveland Street (half way to Oxford Street) and that is the corner with Foley Street.) Note that this is the spring bank holiday weekend. Nearest Tube stations: Goodge Street, Regent's Park, Great Portland Street, Euston Square, Warren Street. For public-transport information, see the TfL website. (The present "planned works" timetable shows that all these stations should be open on this date.) To come to the powwow when you're in the pub: cross the downstairs bar room and go through the door marked "private" or "function room". I have booked the upstairs room from 3 pm until 6 pm. As usual, the owner of the pub lets us use the room free of charge but he would like each of us to donate 2 GBP (yes, it was 1 GBP previously) to the collection that he makes for a charity, usually Macmillan cancer support. I'll be there with a collecting envelope! I have made the theme "Informal networking", but if somebody would like to give a talk on a translation or interpreting-related subject or suggest a theme for the powwow, please let me know. If not, I would like to organise the event with a question and answer session: at about 4 pm we'll have a sit-down session of about half an hour in which any of you can ask a question and the others can then answer or discuss the subject. This was a successful idea on the previous occasions where it was tried. The rest of the time is for general networking and drinking (drinks are available from the bar downstairs). |
