This profile is best viewed at http://www.proz.com/pro/585674 ABOUT ME I have been working as a full time freelance translator, editor and proofreader for miscellaneous translation agencies all over the world for 10 years. I have a degree (BA) from the Department of Translation and Interpreting (English <> Turkish), University of Hacettepe, Ankara, Turkey. I believe that having a B.A. degree in Translation is an invaluable asset in this profession, which is directly related with the high quality of my translations. I am a member of ATA and I abide by its Code of Professional Conduct and Business Practices I worked both as a translator and World News Desk Assistant at a newspaper, Turkish News (currently not published) for two years. Being part of an active and completely organized team as well as being closer to what’s happening even in places I’ve never heard of, made me really enthusiastic about world issues (especially about EU, UN and international relations). I also worked as a full-time translator and interpreter at a Turkish Military Institution for three years. The texts translated in this position were highly technical (engineering, aerospace, operations, aircraft user guides), military or administrative texts. Despite the fact that I enjoyed being a part of such an institution, I felt the need to work in a more challenging context for my professional improvement and satisfaction. And, now, it is far more than I ever imagined. And, as I do believe in the importance of continuing professional improvement I am doing my best to attend conferences, seminars etc. organized all around the world. So, most recently, I attended the Localization Certification Program which took place on May 11-13 2009 in Cologne, Germany. This program was not only presented by California State University, Chico Center for Regional and Continuing Education and Research Foundation, The Globalization and Localization Association (GALA), and The Localization Institute but also comprised of 45 hours of online training, 3 days hands-on workshop and a Localization Certification exam.
