I have a strong academic background as a linguist and have sought out several opportunities to apply my theoretical knowledge into interpreting and translating practice.
At the moment I am working as a freelance Interpreter and Translator. I provide interpreting service to health professionals and patients, using both consecutive and simultaneous/whispering methods, in various hospital settings, GP and dental practices and community. I also liaise with Health Visitors and Social Service Workers on a regular basis.
Since a few months I have been working for the Gender Institute, London School of Economics and Political Science as an Interview Transcriber.
I have recently worked as a Research Assistant at University of Central Lancashire on an ESRC-funded project about Polish people in Greater Manchester. In this role I was involved in undertaking interviews, translating and transcribing interviews from Polish into English, analysing data and contributing to dissemination of research findings.
