Reizvoll gestaltet sich das Zusammenspiel der Kontraste auf der bei 12 und 6 Uhr satinierten Lünette. Beinahe nahtlos geht sie in das Armband über, während die leicht erhabenen, spitz zulaufenden Enden ihrer diamantbesetzten Seiten bei 3 und 9 Uhr die sanfte Rundung Modells unterstreichen. | Translation - English Diamonds and steel, polished and satin-brushed surfaces, this partially diamond-set model is the epitome of sophisticated design. The interplay of contrast attractively presents itself at 12 and 6 o’clock on the satin-brushed bezel, which almost seamlessly joins the bracelet; its slightly raised, diamond-set sides point toward 3 and 9 o’clock and highlight the delicate roundness of the model. | More Less | | Other - University of the West of England | | Years of translation experience: 6. My love of languages and dialects developed early on, as I struggled to decipher my grandfather's stories of "the old country" told in his heavy Irish brogue. I studied French and English in high school and college and graduated from Wheaton College in Massachusetts with a B.A. in English in 1995. After college I tried to find a balance between the physical and intellectual aspects of my life by teaching sea kayaking and selling climbing gear, kayaks, and canoes. During this time I began volunteering as a literacy and English teacher for adults. After spending a year in Texas working as a literacy and ESL teacher for children and adults and watching others develop linguistically, I decided it was time to immerse myself in another culture. I completed my CELTA teaching certification and got on a plane for Vienna. I picked up the language quickly through friends, as an English teacher, and through university courses. After several years of freelancing as an English teacher, proofreader, and translator I completed my Master of Arts in Translation with distinction in German and English. My thesis topic was the ethics of translation and how a translator can influence the skopos of a text. The title is "A Question of Ethics: Analysing Alan Cranston's Unofficial Translation of Hitler's Mein Kampf". I now translate full time and am an active member of the translation community. My primary interests lie in literary translation, history, and the political influence of language in our society. I am motivated, disciplined, and always eager to learn new things and hone my skills. My days are filled with translating, proofreading, developing terminology databases, training for a marathon, and reading. | This user has earned KudoZ points by helping other translators with PRO-level terms.
