Linux is fast becoming the operating system of choice for enterprise database users. Linux offers an environment that is flexible, secure, and reliable. As the use of databases in conjunction with enterprise solutions grows, system and database administrators want to focus on customer solutions—not operating and database systems. Linux offers system administrators the comfort of a proven, enterprisewide operating system. From the desktop to clustering server farms, Linux has attracted the loyalty of several million developers and users worldwide because it frees them to focus their attentions somewhere other than the operating system.
I'll explain why Linux is so well suited to enterprise-strength requirements, and how DB2 Universal Database (UDB) for Linux complements those strengths. But for the benefit of those readers who may not be familiar with Linux, I'll first provide some background on what it is and why its die-hard core of supporters continues to grow.
Linux is the best, but not the only, example of the power of open source development, a collaborative process that lets any interested programmer or developer read, modify, and debug open source software's code for free and without restrictions on its use. The Internet has become the primary medium by which developers share code and has helped foster the growth of the open source community.
Open source development decreases the time to market for software development companies by giving them access to developers around the world using a variety of platforms. Not only does open source development provide access to more developers, it also removes barriers to developer-to-developer communication. In fact, open source efforts tend to instill a strong sense of community in its participants.
From a Linux user's standpoint, there is more to an application than whether or not it runs on Linux. As with any software package, users are looking for software that addresses the needs of the project or task at hand. They often forget about things such as reliability, security, and flexibility until it is too late. Linux offers a reliability that has yet to be matched in any environment. As for security, Linux inherently offers a level of security that is far above its competitors. Flexibility is at the core of the Linux movement. As part of the open source community, Linux applications must adhere to open source standards. These standards allow users to have access to source code, enabling them to add, change, or even delete features they choose. Vapor Degreasing – SP C201
Emulsion degreasing per SP C214, Chapter 4–14 is approved alternate cleaning procedure for vapor degreasing per SP C201, Chapter 4–1, for all parts except bearings or parts which would be adversely affected by contact with water. Emulsion degreasing per Chapter 4–14 may be used whenever vapor degreasing per Chapter 4–1 is specified.
Corrosion Protection After Cleaning – SP C211
Cleaned parts destined for 48 hours or more of storage must be protected against corrosion. Such parts should be corrosion protected as follows:
1) Cleaned parts are those parts that have been emulsion degreased or cleaned with dry cleaning solvents which leave no oil residue on the part.
2) Coat cleaned parts, except oil system components that are to be stored, with corrosion preventive oil(Chapter 14).
Warning : PROLONGED CONTACT WITH LUBRICATING OIL MAY CAUSE A SKIN RASH. THOSE AREAS OF SKIN AND CLOTHING THAT COME IN CONTACT WITH LUBRICATING OIL SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY WASHED IMMEDIATELY. REMOVE SATURATED CLOTHING IMMEDIATELY. AREAS IN WHICH LUBRICATING OIL iS USED SHALL BE ADEQUATELY VENTILATED TO KEEP MIST AND FUMES TO A MINIMUM. LUBRICATING OIL MAY SOFTEN PAINT ON CONTACT. when LUBRICATING OIL IS SPILLED ON PAINTED SURFACES, THESE SURFACES SHOULD BE THOROUGHLY WASHED.
3) Coat oil system components with clean lubricating oil(Chapter 14). Cover all unprotected openings with caps, plugs, or other suitable covers. If plastic caps or plugs are used, make sure that no chips are generated during installation.

1) 세척한 부품이란 에멀션 탈지 과정을 거쳤거나 드라이클리닝 용매로 세척하여 오일 찌꺼기가 남아 있지 않은 부품을 의미합니다.
2) 세척한 부품을 부식 방지 오일(14장)을 사용하여 코팅합니다. 단, 오일 시스템 부품을 보관해야 하는 경우는 다른 방법을 사용해야 합니다.
주의: 윤활유에 오래 접촉하면 피부에 발진이 생길 수 있습니다. 윤활유에 닿은 옷가지와 피부는 즉시 물로 깨끗이 씻어야 합니다. 윤활유가 잔뜩 스며든 옷가지는 즉시 벗어버리십시오. 윤활유를 사용하는 장소의 환기를 철저히 하여 휘발된 증기와 가스가 차지 않도록 해야 합니다. 윤활유에 닿으면 페인트가 연화될 수 있습니다. 페인트를 칠한 표면에 윤활유를 쏟은 경우에는 해당 표면을 깨끗이 씻어야 합니다.
3) 오일 시스템 부품은 깨끗한 윤활유(14장)로 코팅합니다. 모든 개구부를 덮개, 플러그 또는 기타 적절한 마개로 덮어 보호합니다. 플라스틱 덮개나 플러그를 사용하는 경우 이를 끼울 때 부스러기가 생기지 않도록 주의해야 합니다.
