I am a human translator with a literary background and 20 years’ experience working on technical texts.
I emphasize the word human because I feel, in an age of online translations done or supported by a computer, that the quality of work is often sacrificed when not done by a qualified human being.
The human mind brings with it wide horizons, different interests and a continuously growing general culture. My background is a literary one, I collaborate with publishers as a book translator, but I have also worked as in-house chief translator for a biomedical producer for over 20 years. This has broadened my expertise to also include scientific and technical texts.
While I understand the importance of CAT tools and TMs, I prefer working on texts where the human mind has the last word – I like to edit content specifically and effectively. Jobs where no CAT tool is required are particularly welcome.
The human mind has its natural human limits: I produce high quality work to realistic and reasonable deadlines. I do not accept jobs relating to topics I have no knowledge of as feel it would be unfair to the client. I always work to the best of my ability and in a professional and reliable manner. I love my job and I like to think that this is reflected in the service I provide.
