The landscape has been changed by both advances in computing and in telecommunications and the social and political changes stimulated by these advances in technology. The current business environment is increasingly marked by new competition and relentless commodization with innovation serving as the key driver of value. Results from the Global CEO Study 2006, indicates that those CEOs looking to innovate their business model feel that products and services can be copied but the business model is the true differentiator. The thought is that the business model is the toughest thing for the competition to duplicate, so it is their competitive advantage. In fact CEOs are now giving business model innovation as prominent a place on their agendas as product, services or markets innovation and operational innovation.

L'impression générale est que la stratégie d'entreprise est l'élément le plus difficile à copier pour les concurrents et donc se transforme en avantage compétitif. Tobacco control is a critical women’s health issue. Today, four times as many men smoke than women
but, while smoking rates among men have peaked,2 cigarette smoking among women is still increasing.3
This is especially true in developing countries and a number of southern, central and eastern European
countries. To the tobacco industry, sales of tobacco products to women and girls in developing countries
represent one of the largest product marketing opportunities in the world.4
Two hundred and fifty million women smoke.5 If the percent of women who smoke in developing countries
rise to the levels of smoking found among men, the number of women smokers in the next generation will
double to more than 500 million.6 Because women who smoke die from the same tobacco-caused
diseases as men, such an increase will have dramatic effects on women’s health and on the health and
income of their families.1,7,8 In addition, women smokers are also at risk for developing cancer of the
reproductive organs and osteoporosis.9 Smoking also contributes to poverty in ways that especially affect
women’s health.10

Ceci est particulièrement vrai pour les pays en voie de développement et pour un certain nombre de pays d’Europe du Sud, d’Europe Centrale et d’Europe de l’Est. Pour l’industrie du tabac, les ventes de produits de tabac aux femmes et adolescentes des pays en voie de développement représente une des opportunités stratégiques marketing la plus importante dans le monde.4
Deux cent cinquante millions de femmes fument.5 Si le pourcentage de femmes qui fument dans les pays en voie de développement augmente jusqu’aux niveaux atteints par les fumeurs masculins, alors les nombre de fumeurs féminins doublera jusqu’à atteindre 500 millions d'individus pour la prochaine génération.6 Parce que les femmes qui fument meurent des mêmes maladies dues au tabac que les hommes, une telle augmentation aura des conséquences spectaculaires sur la santé des femmes et sur la santé et les revenus de leurs familles.1,7,8 Par ailleurs, les fumeurs féminins sont à même de développer des cancers des organes reproductifs et l’ostéoporose9.
