Bio
Currently, I work as an interpreter (Spanish/English) at a pediatric specialty hospital in the U.S. since 2008. Actually, there are two hospitals in neighboring cities with clinics, specialty clinics, rehabilitation, and psychology clinics, and a surgery center in a nearby suburb, so this gives me a lot of variety:-) I usually spend my Sunday nights in the Emergency Department (the seventh busiest in the country) and when things get a little slow, I like to check out new vocabulary from questions and glossaries at the Proz website.

In addition to my current position, I have contracted directly for several law firms, in schools, and through agencies that specialize in legal and medical interpreting. The professional translation experience that I have had, has mostly been done in industry, particularly training manuals, human resources and legal documents.

I have taught English as a Second Language to adults and children in the public schools. I've taught Spanish immersion, native language literacy (Spanish), and bilingual ed. I have a MN state teaching license K-12 Spanish, and am completing an MA Instruction. I also worked as a trainer in industry where I developed a Bloodborne Pathogens Training course in Spanish that was consistent with the vocabulary used in the Red Cross' translation of their training materials. I completed coursework at the Program in Translation and Interpreting at the University of MN. I attend UMTIA conferences and interpreter trainings through my work at the hospital.
