| | Sample translations submitted: 7| English to Chinese: Singing with Lulu (By Charlotte Church) - Music | Source text - English The most important thing to learn about singing is breathing.
Lulu is really strict about standing up straight—aren’t you, Lulu?
“Absolutely. Deportment is very important. I always stand in front of my students—as I did with you—and show them how to stand. We do ballerina poses. The students always think they’re very funny.
You have to keep the pelvis nice and square and breath into the diaphragm, which is just below the chest, and not breathe into the chest. That’s why I get my students to put their hands on their ribs to see if their rib cages expand properly. It will increase the more properly they breathe.
When you first came to me, you had a chest voice. That was the first mistake. That was why, even though you could belt out your songs, you only had a little bit of air to work with.”
“Okay, so after breathing, what came next? I can’t remember.”
“You got the breathing no problem. What was amazing was then you wanted to know how to get your voice from your neck to the front of your face. This is what classically trained singers are taught to do—to sing and talk from their cheekbones. I have students twice your age who can’t hear the difference. And you were all of ten and a half.
“So I showed you how us oldies do it—and you just did it. You always were a very good mimic, which is another good quality a singer needs to have. And now you could make what we call a ‘round’ sound instead of an ‘airy’ sound.”
| Translation - Chinese

| | English to Chinese: Georg Jensen 100 Years Silver design & Danish Art - Art, Arts & Crafts, Painting | Source text - English Summer
“Silver is the best metal we have, and the most beautiful... and silver has that lovely moonlight quality…something of the light of a Danish summer night, silver can appear as dusk and, when dew falls, it can look like magical mist…”
Gerog Jensen 1926
In a way Georg Jensen’s sense of silver reflects the sense of colour, mood, and form evident in Scandinavian art and design. Matter itself: the tactile materiality of nature, the texture of paintings, and silver become motifs and subjects in their own right. The first room of the labyrinth is filled with clear, bright summer light. Impressions from our organic surroundings are transformed into images and figures. The paintings investigate how nature’s phenomena affect us: the light in our eyes; the power of saturated colour. The silver pieces on the other side celebrate the worlds of flora and fauna with decorations and ornaments that are both lavish and true to nature. Light and colour enters the design via the clean surfaces and the moonstones, amber, agates, and opals set in the silver. Texture and tactility make their appearance in the weave-like structures, the many appendages, and the arabesque-like reliefs.

| | English to Chinese: A History of Celibacy - History | Source text - English Give Me Chastity…but Not Yet
Augustine’s youthful plea—“Lord, give me chastity and continence, but not yet”—is perhaps the Christian world’s most famous prayer. Since he said it, it has resonated down through the centuries and made Augustine a soul mate in human love, confusion and good intentions. Which one of us has not, at least once, translated his appeal into his own life, if not with chastity, then with other cherished sins?
Augustine was a privileged, educated young man whose long life, 354 to 430, covered some of Christianity’s most interesting transformations and movements, including the fourth-century monastic revolution. He himself, as a brilliant and devout Catholic, arguably the greatest of the Church Fathers, was enormously influential in shaping orthodox theology, especially on the subject of celibacy.
For at least a decade, celibacy was very little on Augustine’s mind. He was intensely religious and belonged to the Manichean Christian sect, later regarded as heretical. Mani, its founder, had lived and died—by crucifixion—in southern Babylonia from 216 to 277. His religion drew from Gnosticism, Christianity, Zoroastrianism, and Greek philosophy, had a hierarchy and apostles, and was inspired by the doctrine contained in the several books of Mani.
| Translation - Chinese
| Translation - English The color black of the East and the color gold of the West, represent two special cultures individually; however, these two elements were integrated skillfully in Wang’s “Gold Stone.” To Wang, black, white or gold are all colors! Wang always had a fondness for the spirit of classical culture. He quotes Chinese ancient books and phrases in the titles of his works, such as “Tiangongkaiwu,” “the great sound is silence” (words from Lao-tzu) and “gold stones.” The phrases in the titles contain abstract meanings. Tiangongkaiwu, the so-called “techniques encyclopedia” of China, is a book that is especially beloved by Wang, he acclaimed this book as rich in old Chinese wisdom. “Gold Stone” originates from the “Book of Later Han” from which the quotation is “the utmost sincerity can influence even bronze and stone.” A person who is really earnest and sincere may cause a great sensation—shake the mountains and hills, breaking bronze and stone. Considering either this title phrase or this giant painting itself, the artist hopes to hearten people on and challenge themselves. You can imagine Wang pursues art with the will to split stones. While the artist was creating the “Gold Stone” Triptych, he experienced a difficult struggle in his heart. He used Venice gold as a collage on the background successfully, that made a big piece of majestic gold, and the powerful black painted on freely and bursting open inside. Big blocks of black, the scatterings of black, from strong and thick to sparse and thin, full of rhythm, with great momentum like an epic full of grandness. In the composition black and gold symbolize king and eternity. Wang’s art crosses time and space, with confidence, bold and constrained, standing mighty. | | Chinese to English: Product Manual - Marketing / Market Research | Source text - Chinese

Three Treasures of the Yuchi Town
Black tea, mushroom and orchid are called the three treasures of the Yuchi (Fish Pond) town. Among those three treasures, there is an anecdote regarding black tea and orchids.
The Conversation Between Flower and Tea
Various orchids in the Yuchi town have been used in combination to create floral arrangements; and alternatively, a flowerpot showing the beauty of a single orchid with its own theme, is often arranged with a unique idea. So, when the orchid viewing and black tea are enjoyed together, diverse tea-drinking themes arise and make the visitors feel the purity and freshness of the spring flowers, as well as the floral fragrance which is full of sunshine and life force. In this pleasant atmosphere people relax and enjoy a cup of black tea with its aroma. Plus the Black Tea biscuits which are elaborately baked with black tea as an ingredient, crisp yet not greasy. All this doubles the joy!
The Representative of Black Tea Culture--Ms Lee, Su-hong
Ms Lee, a woman generous, straightforward and tender at heart, throws her passion into the world of tea, demonstrating that “the devoted woman is most beautiful. ” From the world of flowers and plants to the world of black tea, all the way along, Ms Lee has concentrated her attention on tea and with no regrets; so she becomes the messenger to hand on the black tea culture from one generation to the next. Offering a cup of nice tea, telling you that good black tea is in Yuchi: this comes of Ms. Lee’s immutable love of her hometown and black tea.
