I have lived in Turkey for seven years, am married to a Turk and have two bi-lingual children. I am self-taught in both the spoken and written language of Turkish and have achieved a high standard in both. I am also well accustomed to various dialect forms.

Five years ago I worked in an English language school, then for the past four years have been teaching English privately to high school and university students.

Recently I have updated brochures for local hotels and the local council. These brochures had previously been poorly translated into English by a non-native translator. As a result of the word for word translations the meaning and intent of the text was lost. My translation, therefore, appeared much more professional and also more intelligible.

As a mother of bi-lingual children, I am particularly interested in the translation of children’s literature and would relish the opportunity to be involved in such a project.

Although I am new to translating work, I am extremely eager and hard-working. I also have plenty of time to commit myself to projects and am very punctual with deadlines.

Yedi yıldır Türkiye’de yaşıyorum, eşim bir Türk ve iki tane iki dili konuşabilen çocuğum var. Türkçe konuşmayı ve yazmayı kendi kendime öğrendim. Hem konuşmam hem yazmam en iyi seviyededir. Aynı zamanda farklı lehçelere de alışığım.

Beş yıl önce özel bir kursda çalıştım. Dört yıldır da lise ve ünıversite öğrencilerine yönelik özel İngilizce ders veriyorum.

Son zamanlarda bazı otellerin ve Belediyenin bröşürlerini güncelledim. Bröşürler daha önce anadili İngilizce olmayan birisi tarafından çevrildiği için yanlış olarak çevirilmişti. Kelime kelime çevirildiğinden metinin anlamı ve amacı yok olmuştu. Bu yüzden benim çevirim hem daha profesyonel hem de daha anlaşılır oldu.

İki dili de bilen çocukların annesi olduğum için, özelikle çocuk eserlerini çevirmeye meraklıyım ve böyle bir projeye katılabilirsem çok memnum olurum.

Tercümanlık işinde yeni olmama rağmen, çok hevesliyim ve çalışkanım. Çok zamanım olduğu için aldığım projeyi taahüt ettiğim zamanda ve tam olarak teslim ederim.
