* It appears as if PokerStars isn’t content with simply ruling the online poker world. It wants to take over the live poker world, as well. The owner of the immensely popular European Poker Tour, as well as the Russian Poker Tour, Asia Pacific Poker Tour, Latin American Poker Tour, and Australia New Zealand Poker Tour has now created one more to add to the list: the Italian Poker Tour. The IPT, created in collaboration with PokerStars pro Luca Pagano and Federpoker, will kick off June 1st in San Remo with a six day event. PokerStars has not posted the official schedule yet, but the Main Event is expected to cost €2,200 to enter. Satellites are available at PokerStars.com. San Remo is also a stop on the European Poker Tour, won this year by Constant Rijkenberg from Amsterdam.
* Eric “Rizen” Lynch, one of the most successful online poker players of all time, has signed on to become the first pro at LockPoker.com, a room on the Cake Poker network. Lynch plans to not only devote most of his playing time to Lock Poker, but he will also serve as a sort of customer advocate. He used to be one of the most active and successful tournament players online, but focuses more on cash games nowadays. His long list of accomplishments include a win in the $1 million guaranteed on PokerStars, as well as a second place finish in SCOOP Pot-Limit Omaha event number six. In 2006, he placed 24th in the WSOP Main Event, cashing for almost a half million dollars. Lynch is a family man who has used his online poker success as an opportunity to stay home with his kids. He currently works for poker training site, PokerXFactor, and writes for both Bluff Magazine and PokerNewsDaily.com.
* The Poker Hall of Fame is accepting nominations from the general public in order to help determine who will be its newest member(s). Once the nomination period closes on July 2nd, a Harrah’s committee will review the nominees and select ten to be considered for the Hall of Fame. The sixteen living Hall of Fame members plus select members of media will then vote for those they believe are deserving of the honor. Anyone who receives 75 percent of the votes will be inducted. PartyPoker is trying to rally support for its resident pro, Mike Sexton, citing his influence in bringing both televised poker, through his work as an announcer for the World Poker Tour, and online poker into the mainstream. Sexton has one WSOP bracelet, which he won in 1989, as well as a victory in the 2006 WSOP Tournament of Champions. PokerStars VIP Bonus
• $50 to $4,000 in bonuses can be purchased at the Poker Stars store for Silver and up status players. See chart below for the particular bonuses that are available to you.
• Players purchase bonuses with FPPs, which are earned at different rates depending on your status. VPPs are earned alongside FPPs and are the base rate of FPPs.
• After purchasing the bonus players must then earn an additional 7 VPPs for each $1 in bonus to withdraw. VPPs must be earned within 90 days. Bonus releases in a lump sum.
• When accounting for both the VPPs needed to purchase the bonus and the VPPs to clear the bonus, players must effectively earn 20-74 VPPs for each $1 in bonus money
• The clear rates represented below assume that you are already in the status and are starting over in your pursuit of a bonus (all other points have been spent). If you are in the Bronze status, which has no bonuses to purchase, or in a status that is lower than the bonus you are eligible for clear rates will be higher since the rate of FPPs earned varies by status.
