Source text - English To help make the Internet more user-friendly for everyone — even those with vision problems, poor motor control and other physical challenges — the latest Web browsers include a wide range of accessibility features. The ability to easily zoom in on text or change the color or contrast of the browser — as well as keyboard shortcuts and mouse gestures — makes for easier Internet navigation.

"Accessibility features are important in Chrome because they make getting around the web easier for people with disabilities," says T.V. Raman, a research scientist (who is also blind) at Google. "Also, Chrome’s accessibility features can be enjoyed by many users, not just those with disabilities, because they add additional functionality."
For example, Google's ChromeVis helps users with low vision magnify text and change the color, to better see the words on the screen. You can select an "anchored lens," which is always at the top of the window or a "floating lens," which magnifies selected text via your mouse.
Other extensions – or plug-ins – such as Smooth Gestures and gleeBox help you navigate the web quickly and easily with mouse strokes (by holding down the right mouse button and performing a gesture) or with keyboard shortcuts that replace actions typically performed by a mouse (such as clicking, scrolling and selecting text).

Source text - English No one would argue that having more eyes on the road isn't better, right? These systems use cameras and motion sensors to give drivers a better sense of what's coming at them, which can help them react in time to avoid mishaps.
1. Night Vision: Infrared and thermal imaging technology (this is the technology used by SEALs) lets drivers see several hundred yards down the road in darkness by displaying an image of the road and potential hazards on the car's navigation system screen.
2. Pedestrian Detection: Thank the Navy's infrared technology again, this time for a system that acts as a second set of eyes on the road, scanning for objects in the car's path and sounding an alarm if anything is detected.
3. Lane Departure Warning: A forward-facing camera keeps a virtual eye on road lane markers, sounding an alarm if the car crosses lanes. Some systems will automatically brake the car and bring it back into its lane.

Don't laugh. According to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea have increased among ages 45-64 in the last decade. For instance, in 2000, there were 900 cases of syphilis in that age group. By 2010, the number almost tripled. "Older women are starting relationships," says Clancy. "But they may not think about protection. Ask your partner to wear a condom."

We're eating less meat — the USDA predicts that the average American will eat 200.2 pounds of red meat and poultry this year, down from 221.6 pounds in 2007. But when we do eat it, we want it to be top-notch. Quality-conscious carnivores are fueling a trend in upscale butcheries, which tend to be stocked with hormone-free, locally raised, grass-fed meats, artisanal sausage and fancy charcuterie.

Portobellos, zucchini and eggplant make healthier pies
Although I've recently reduced our carb intake at home, figuring out how to deal with pizza really threw me for a loop. What was pizza without that crisp, bready crust, after all? Turns out that certain veggies can replace crust altogether and provide delicious support for our favorite toppings.
Eggplant and portobello mushrooms are the easiest crustless foundations for tomato sauce, cheese and other toppings. Just brush them with olive oil flavored with garlic and a little salt and pepper, and then roast them until fully cooked.
Although a little more work, zucchini "crusts" make great use of this abundant late-harvest vegetable. Since zucchini is so moist, you'll need to grate and salt it to release some of its liquid — I've explained how in the recipe.

Born in Havana, Cuba, I emigrated as a child to the United States, becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1972. I have a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with a minor in Mathematics from Rutgers University, Newark College of Arts and Sciences, granted in May 1978. Shortly after graduation, I lived for two years in Venezuela, where I first tried my hand at translation from English into Spanish. Returning to the United States in 1981, I embarked upon a career in telecommunications, which culminated in early retirement from Lucent Technologies in November 2006.
During my tenure as an engineer and software professional, I capitalized on my language skills producing and responding to bids and proposals; giving product demonstrations to clients within the U.S. and internationally, in both English and Spanish; and developing and providing customer product training in both languages.
I enjoy experiencing world cultures, and have traveled throughout the United States, Canada, South America, Europe and Asia. My family tree includes French, Spanish, English and Irish branches. I find those countries especially interesting.
A passion for language and a love of reading and writing in both Spanish and English led me to pursue a second career as a professional translator and obtain a Certificate of Proficiency in English-Spanish and Spanish-English Translation from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, granted in May 2010.
Although my native language is Spanish, I consider English to be a second native language. My translations are accurate, professional, timely and well-researched.
