I hold a BSc. Hons. Chemistry with German and Regional Studies (Combined Honours), from the University of Surrey, Guildford, United Kingdom.
My professional translating experience began already during my studies and a period spent living and working in industry for a large pharmaceutical concern in Germany.
I have worked for 5 years as a freelance technical and scientific translator in France.
During my time in France, I was also a Sworn Translator to the Courts of Appeal in Besançon and in Dijon.
I have worked for more than 17 years for an intergovernmental international legal organisation in the Netherlands, currently as a reviser, working there for the most part from French to English, but also from Dutch, Spanish and German when required.
Working into my native language English, I have carried out translation, revision, proof-reading and editing of technical, scientific, legal and commercial documents for organisations active in fields such as mechanics and mechanical engineering, chemistry and chemical engineering, biology, nuclear science, electronics, and patents, as well as legal reports, speeches and preparatory legal research documents for international meetings and diplomatic conferences.
I have collaborated with translator colleagues, both "in-house" and freelance, for management of special, large-scale or long-term projects.
I speak, read and write English, French and Dutch on a daily basis and recently returned to freelance translation work once again, launching TraVerSA translations alongside my current reviser post.
I am an Associate of the Institute of Translation & Interpreting (United Kingdom).
My curiosity for both language and science means that I have always been interested in using and developing my language skills alongside my technical and scientific knowledge. I believe my education and work experience demonstrate together my ability to move among and adapt easily to different translating fields and contexts.
Fast, accurate work, with a high attention to detail.
