ہم بچے نانی کے گھر ہر ہفتے جایا کرتے۔ نانا اور ماموں کے کوارٹر ملے ہوئے تھے۔ ہر کوارٹر میں ایک کمرہ اور ایک بڑا سا آنگن تھا۔ نانا، نانی کے ساتھ خالہ رہتی تھیں اور ماموں، ممانی اور ان کے تین بیٹے ایک ساتھ۔ دونوں کوارٹروں کی درمیانی دیوار نہ تھی لہذا یہ ایک بڑا سا گھر نظر آتا۔ نانی کے آنگن میں امرود کے تین چار پیڑ قطار سے لگے ہوئے تھے اور ایک انار کا درخت تھا۔ ماموں کی طرف ایک بڑا سا نیم کا پیڑ اور موتیا، چمبیلی، اور گلاب کی جھاڑیاں تھیں۔
چھٹیوں کی دوپہر ہم بچے درختوں پر چڑھتے، امرود توڑ توڑ کر کھاتے، آنکھ مچولی کھیلتے۔ شام کو سڑک کے اس پار ملیر ریلوے اسٹیشن کی سیر کو جاتے۔ اور اسٹیشن کے باہر ریل کی پٹریوں کے نیچے بنی پلیاؤں کے اندر بیٹھ کر اوپر سے جاتی ہوئی ٹرین کی آواز سنتے۔ رات کو نانی چار پائیوں پر صاف ستھرے بستر لگاتیں اور ہمیں کہانیاں سناتیں۔ اور ہم تاروں بھرے آسمان کو تکتے تکتے سوجاتے۔ یہ ۱۹۶۰ کی دہائی کی بات ہے۔
| Translation - English
We, the children, used to go to maternal grandmother's house every week. Houses of maternal grandfather and maternal uncle were situated together. Every house consisted of a room and big courtyard. Aunt used to live with maternal grandfather and grandmother together, while maternal uncle and his wife along with three sons lived together in adjoining house. Between the two houses there was no dividing wall thus it looked a big “one house”. In the courtyard of maternal grandmother, three or four trees of guavas were grown in one line and a tree of pomegranate. On the side of maternal uncle there was a big neem"bitter" tree alongwith Jasmine,Motia and rose shrubs.
At noon time we used to climb tree and pluck gauvas fruit to eat it and play joyfully. In the evening we used to go to Malir Railway Station which was across the road, sit beneath the small railway bridges and listen to the noise and facinating voice of railway engine. At night our maternal grandmother used to set clean beds in open and tell us stories and we used to go to the lap of sleep looking at the stars in the sky.

Some had imagined that nuclear weapons would make Pakistan an object of awe and respect internationally. They had hoped that Pakistan would acquire the mantle of leadership of the Islamic world. Indeed, in the aftermath of the 1998 tests, Pakistan’s stock had shot up in some Muslim countries before it crashed. But today, with a large swathe of its territory lost to insurgents, one has to defend Pakistan against allegations of being a failed state. In terms of governance, economy, education or any reasonable quality of life indicators, Pakistan is not a successful state that is envied by anyone.
Contrary to claims made in 1998, the bomb did not transform Pakistan into a technologically and scientifically advanced country. Again, the facts are stark. Apart from relatively minor exports of computer software and light armaments, science and technology remain irrelevant in the process of production. I am retiring as Manager Pakistan International Airlines from 02 October, 2009 and currently I am on leave till 02 October. During my 34 years of service I have worked in different disciplines of the airline.
While I was working as Trainer I trained staff in various fields which included Reservations, Sabre System, Marketing, Travel, Tourism, Electronic Airline Ticketing, Telephone Courtesy, Grooming and Passenger Handling.
I used to translate the contents in English to Urdu and Urdu to English for the benefit of staff who did not understand either of the languages.
I also acted as translator/interpreter for the Airline Liaison Officers of British, Canadian, and US Embassies when they were invited by Pakistan Airlines to impart training to the staff of Airlines and Travel Agents and Immigration. The contents of such courses usually covered various security features of the travel document e.g. Passports of various countries to help prevent illegal travel to these countries on fake or counterfeit documents. I successfully helped them and my services were always appreciated.
Thus I have enough skill to do the translation especially from Urdu to English and English to Urdu. I believe to do wok honestly with dedication and meet the deadlines. Since I would be retiring soon and already on leave I have sufficient time to perform the task given to me.
As regards my qualification, I graduated from University of Punjab in 1970 with major in Urdu and English languages. It is further stated that Urdu is our national language which is widely spoken and understood in Pakistan while English is official language of the Government and all the correspondence is done in English.
I can also very efficiently translate from the audio conversation of Urdu/Punjabi to English and vice versa.
