After establishing myself as a translator, initially in-house and specializing in patent work on mechancial and civil engineering subjects, I became a freelancer as I combined translation and bilingual lexicography work. The latter won out and I have spent 17 years working for dictionary publishers Larousse and Chambers Harrap. I have compiled, translated, edited and project-managed numerous dictionaries, most notably the Harrap's Unabridged French-English Dictionary, of which I was Editor-in-Chief.
Having now assumed a managerial role, I am keen to keep my translation muscles toned by taking on freelance work again. Get your translation done by someone who writes the dictionaries that other translators rely on. |
