Bishop Hopes: Hello and welcome to EWTN’s series of Advent Reflections. My name is Alan Hopes. I am one of the Auxiliary Bishops of the Archdiocese of Westminster. I am speaking to you from the beautiful medieval church of St. Etheldreda’s, Ely Place Warm greetings to you from London, as we begin our journey together towards the celebrations of Our Lord’s Nativity at Christmas. The Christian Faith has been in these islands for some 1700 years. St Alban, our proto-martyr, was a Roman soldier in what was then an outback of the Roman Empire. He gave refuge to a priest who was being pursued and ultimately gave his life rather than betray the priest or the Lord in Whom he had come to believe. He was executed in Verulamium, the present day St Alban’s and a small Church and shrine were set up to venerate his remains. | Translation - Spanish

Obispo Hopes: Hola y bienvenidos a la serie de EWTN Reflexiones de Adviento. Me llamo Alan Hopes. Soy uno de los Obispos Auxiliares de la Arquidiócesis de Westminster. Les hablo desde la hermosa iglesia medieval de Santa Ediltrudis, en Ely Place. Cordiales saludos desde Londres, al emprender juntos el camino hacia las celebraciones de la Natividad de Nuestro Señor en Navidad. La fe Cristiana ha existido en estas islas alrededor de 1700 años. San Albán, nuestro proto-mártir, fue un soldado romano en lo que era entonces una provincia remota del Imperio romano. Le dio refugio a un sacerdote que estaba siendo perseguido y al final entregó su vida antes que traicionar al sacerdote o al Señor en quien él había llegado a creer.
