1.0 QUALITY POLICY

The Company operates a continuing quality improvement programme thai encompasses both aesthetic and product
performance parameters in order to maintain its excellent position the marketplace.
2.0 AIMS
It is the aim of the Company to ensure that our products are both safe and fit for the purpose for which they are
intended.
The guide to the General Product Safety Regulations 1994 defines a product as being ¡®safe¡¯ "if, under normal or reasonably foreseeable conditions of use, including duration, it presents no risk {of injury} or only the minimum risk {of injury} compatible with the product's use and which is consistent with a high level of protection for consumers." A product may be considered fit for purpose' if it fulfils the consumer's needs and expectations.
3.0 PORTMEIRION TEST REQUIREMENTS
3.1 STABILITY
For candles that are designed to be freestanding i.e. not placed in candleholder, then the testing is to be carried out on a freestanding candle. For candles that are designed to be used in a candleholder the test candle under test is to be placed in a suitable candleholder during the testing procedure.
3.1.1 Method
A freestanding candle or candle in a candleholder, is to be tilted to an angle of 15¡ã from the vertical and observed as to whether or not it overturns. To ensure all sides of the product are stable, 10 tests are to be repeated in variable directions of tilt.
3.1.2 Performance Requirement
The product does not overturn in all directions of tilt.
3.2 BURNING TIME
3.2.1 Method
The total burning time of the candle, from the point of initial ignition to when the candle is fully consumed or when the flame is self-extinguished, is to be determined. The burning time need not be continuous but can be an aggregate of a number of different periods of burning. However, a minimum burn session of 4 hours is to be employed.
The total burning time of the candle is to be reported in hours.
3.2.2 performance Requirement
The total burning time is to be commercially acceptable relative to the type of candle being tested.
3.3 BURNING PERFORMANCE
During the testing of the burning performance the candle wick is NOT to be trimmed.
3.3,1 Percentage of Wax Used
3.3.1.1 Method
• Prior to initial ignition, accurately weigh the candle (to the nearest Ig). Record the result
• At the end of me total burning period, accurately weigh the total candle residue (to the nearest Ig). Record the result.
• Calculate the percentage of wax used:
% Wax Used = (Initial Weight of Candle)-(Final Weight of Candle) X 100 %

3.3.2 Visual Assessment
A visual assessment of the burning characteristics, with particular regard to any hazardous burning behaviour or excessive production of smoke is to be made and reported. Special notice must be taken of the amount of soot produced when the candle is burning. Excessive soot is not acceptable.
3.3.3 Flame Height
3.3.3.1 Method
The height of the candle flame is to be measured, to the nearest centimetre, five minutes after ignition and every 30 minutes thereafter while the candle is alight. The maximum and minimum flame heights during the total bum period are to be reported.
3.3.3,2 Performance Requirement
Maximum Flame Height - 40 mm
Minimum Flame Height - 20 mm
3.4 PERCENTAGE OF WAX SPILLED
3.4.1 Method
Any wax that has been 'spilled' from the candle during the period of burning is to be removed from the candle after
the total burning time has been completed. (NB. This is NOT the remaining wax left but is actual wax SPILLAGE).
The wax spUlage is to be weighed accurately to the nearest Ig and the percentage of wax spilled calculated,

3.5 LABELLING
All candles must have a label containing Safety Instructions attached, which should contain the following information, as a minimum:

• Remove all packaging before use.
• Keep out of reach of children & pets.
• Never leave a burning candle unattended.
• Do not place in a draught, direct sunlight or on/near a direct heal source.
• Keep well away from flammable materials & surfaces that may be damaged by heat.
• Bwn in or on a suitable nonflammable holder that can also collect any' spilled wax.
•Holder may become hot during use. Place on a heat resistant surface and avoid touching or moving when the candle is alight.
•Only handle -when cold.
•Ensure the candle cannot/all or be knocked over.
•Do not allow foreign objects, such as spent matches, wick clippings etc. to fall into the top of the candle or flame,
•If flame become large or smoky, trim the wick to 5 mm (1/4").
•For best results, do not burn for more than 3 hours at any one time.
•Before re-lighting, trim away residues of unburned wax.
•Extinguish candles when they get within 5 cms (2") of the holder,

红碱淖--沙海明珠,遗鸥天堂
红碱淖-这颗“沙海明珠”镶嵌在西北广袤的荒漠之中，堪称大自然的杰作。这里栖息着世界珍稀鸟类--遗鸥。
位于内蒙古鄂尔多斯市伊金霍洛旗蒙陕交界处，红碱淖--这个中国最大的沙漠淡水湖，其形状类似三角形，东西最宽处１０公里，南北最长处１２公里，水面面积６７平方公里，湖岸线长４３．７公里，平均水深８．２米，水最深处１０．５米，湖面海拔１２００米，属高原性内陆湖泊，四周有７条季节河注入。
红碱淖周围广袤辽阔，人迹罕至。置身此地感觉异乎寻常。北面7680公顷的土地是国家自然保护区，已被列为国际重要湿地。东侧有尔林兔草原，西南两侧是一望无际的毛乌素沙漠。周围错落起伏的沙丘与大小不等的片状草场相间，雪白的羊群似朵朵白云点缀其间，簇簇沙柳在金黄色的沙丘中翠绿如玉，激越的信天游在天空中久久回荡。
湖的南岸有一个约０．３３平方公里的半岛，大片松软的沙滩，是理想的天然浴场。
红碱淖水产丰富，盛产１７种淡水鱼类，其鲤鲫鱼以肉质鲜嫩、味道鲜美而闻名遐迩，大银鱼以色泽明亮、圆润、肉质优良而闻名海内外。
秋冬季节，数以万计的各种禽鸟相聚于此，有遗鸥、黑鹳、白鹭、鹈鹕等三十余种。这里已成为世界上已知最大的遗鸥种群栖息繁殖地。目前全球现存遗鸥总数不足1万，属极度濒危鸟类，是国家一级保护动物。2005年约有6000只遗鸥落户红碱淖。成群结队的遗鸥上下翻飞，翩翩起舞，和乐齐鸣，景象非常壮观。
蛮荒不羁，不同寻常是这里的魅力。对于喜欢领略边塞风景，蒙汉交融文化风情的游客，红碱淖一定给您留下耳目一新的感受。

Hongjian Lake---the Pearl in the desert, the Paradise of Relic gulls
Being laid in the boundless desert of northwestern China, Hongjian Lake--the Pearl in the desert - is by all means a creation by nature. This is where the world's most precious relic gulls are live and breed.
Located in Ejin Horo Banner in the Eerduosi Municipality in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on the border with Shaanxi Province, Hongjian Lake is the largest freshwater desert-lake in China. It is triangular in shape, 10 kilometers from east to west at the widest, 12 kilometers from north to south at the longest, and with a lake shoreline of 53.7 kilometers. It has a water surface area of 67 square kilometers, average depth of 8.2 meters, maximum depth of 10.5 meters, and is 1200 meters above sea level. It is a type of inland plateau lake with 7 seasonal rivers flowing into it.
The untouched nature of the wild area around Hongjian Lake means you can enjoy landscapes unlike anything you've ever seen before.
An area of 7,680 hectares north of Hongjian Lake has been opened up as National Nature Reserve and was designated as a Wetland of International Importance by the global Ramsar Convention on Wetlands. To the east of Hongjian Lake is the Erlintu Grassland, to the west and south is the great waste of the Maowusu Desert. Around Hongjian Lake, the up-and-down sand dunes interlace with expanses of pasture, among which snow-white flocks of sheep are interspersed like drifts of cloud. Clusters of sand willow look jade green among golden yellow sandbanks. Agitated quakerbirds hover ceaselessly in the sky.
A 0.33 square kilometer peninsula extends into the lake at its south bank. The soft sandbeach on it is no doubt an ideal outdoor bathing place.
Hongjian Lake has many aquatic products. It teems with 17 species of freshwater fish£¬of which the crucian carp is renowned far and near for its freshness and tenderness, and large ice-fish for its bright color and mellow taste.
In the warm season, tens of thousands of birds gather at the lake, of about 30 different types. They include relic gulls, swans, black storks, egrets, pelicans and many more. It is gradually becoming the largest breeding colony of relic gulls in the world. The total number of the gulls remaining in the world is no more than 10,000, and it is classed as a threatened species. They are also an Animal Under Top-level State Protection. About 6000 of the gulls made their home here in 2005. Flocks of them, whether flying up and down, or tripping elegantly, or twittering happily, present a splendid sight
Essentially desolate with off-the-beaten-track charm, Hongjian Lake promises a diverse experience for those who appreciate typical frontier scenery and a blend of Mongolian and Han Chinese culture.
