I am an American living in Paris and specialising in investments and the markets, having worked for seven years, from 1998 to 2005, as a senior financial translator at BNP Paribas. I had an independent investment background prior to coming to BNP Paribas and, as a result, would sometimes guide young analysts in writing their French-language desk notes and research reports (yes, I know, that overstepped my role as a translator, but it did make translation easier afterward).
Since 2006 I have worked free-lance and have expanded into private equity in particular, an area in which I also interpret, particularly "chouchotage" and simultaneous interpreting of conference calls during negotiations and data-room sessions. My clients have placed their full trust in both my sealed lips and my keen understanding of the subject matter.
Since 2006, I have also expanded into general financial translation, including annual reports and lots and lots of mutual fund performance reports. In addition, I have interpreted training seminars and factory visits in various fields.

Prior to 1998, I spent eight and a half years as a scientific and technical translator at an international organisation. The general field was thermodynamics on both a basic and applied level, which meant that we touched on everything from heat exchange of water droplets on steel plates to superconductors to supermarket refrigerated display cases!
My language pairs are FR-EN, DE-EN and RU-EN, although I did work for a year at EN-FR, when the French translator at the international organisation resigned.
I have "DULCO" and "licence" degrees in Russian studies from Langues O in Paris and two Goethe-Institut certificates (OK, no big deal), but, above all, extensive experience in German.
