My special background has made me native in both English and Chinese. I am very talented with languages and have handled extremely demanding tasks both as translator and interpreter. Most important, I translate the differences in ways of thinking, not just speaking. With me, NOTHING will be lost in translation.......until of course, you are smart enough to catch me.:-)
Interpretation: ups: $$$$$ downs: too intense!!
As an interpreter, I have done simultaneous interpretion live on TV for CA Governator Arnold Schwarzenegger (I can't quite find the equivalent of his accent in Chinese though). I am also a regular simultaneous or consecutive interpreter at high-caliber international conferences, business meetings and academic presentations that make you feel dizzy after 10 minutes. My credits include Visx/AMO international seminars, Symantec Vision 2007, Symantec Worldwide Sales & Marketing conference 2008, Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce meetings with Chinese delegations, International Code Council training sessions, L.A. County Department of Agriculture, Caltrans (ever been to their insane building?), City of Industry City Hall and Chamber of Commerce, Chino City Hall (nice people, but foul dairy farm smell in the summer), Calstate Pomona, Red Cross, Hospital Association of Socal, Hidden Valley Wetland Park and Costco. I also have plenty court and medical interpretation experiences both on-site and over phone (Federal Immigration Court simultaneous and Texas Workforce Commission telephonic, etc.).
Translation: ups: work from home downs: labor intensive and $$
Although as a all-around translator I cover legal, medical, technical and IT with ease (in fact, I'm the go-to translator for DEA, DHS and DOJ's legal documents and various medical related ones for other government agencies), I am particularly strong in social science, business, political, literature, advertising, educational and artistic translation. I can capture the profound meaning of words as a native in both languages and therefore I can be accurate and vivid in dynamic linguistic scenarios. I can provide high speed C-E and E-C translations with critical accuracy. Native speakers in either language will find the translated texts highly pursuant to their linguistic habits (I charge the same rate for awkward pieces too, FYI).
I was the designated translator/proofreader of the Traffic School manuals for the city of Los Angeles. I have worked with translation software company Language Weaver to help improve their software accuracy. Virginia based ASET agency had me on their de-classified FBI documents and current international political commentation translation. I have handled countless projects from Anglo-Chinese Translation Firm (top 3 in Hong Kong where enormous amount of top-of-the-line English to Chinese translations are done on daily basis). The projects range from government documents to restaurant menus, from environmental issues to clinical reports, from movie scripts to rigid contracts. I am also familiar with user manual(appliances, autos, instruments. etc.), contracts and other precision languages. I have translated user manuals for Yamaha, Korg and many other leading instrument makers in the world.
Voiceover: ups: $$$$ downs: working in sound-proofed studio for long hours
I have been playing music to keep me sane when the world gets just a little too crazy to make sense. Doing voiceover, therefore, becomes a natural extension of my life style--I already have all the latest recording hardware, software and a professional studio, so why not? My past clients? Motorola, National University, Dannon, Australia Tourism Commission, Diamond Wire, Web-mob Ad, Applied Solar, etc.
I like doing voiceover because it utilizes a totally different aspect of my talent. Also more emotions can be detected in voiceover products than those of translation and conference interpretation. I have recorded countless (why do I like this word so much? maybe I just can't keep count) voiceover projects, in both languages--narrations, TV and radio commercials, voicemail menus, training programs....you name it, I've done it. The best part? I can deliver final products, not just recorded clips. I have full audiovisual editing capabilities here in my studio and can process literally any job (if you have the budget). And my blazing fast high-speed fiber-optic connection gets finalized products in your account in seconds (that is if your server doesn't freak out every couple of hours like some company's do) |
