The journey towards the XXXII Interamerican Psychological Conference –CIP- began when the Interamerican Society of Psychology -SIP– granted Guatemala, in 2004, the venue to celebrate its FIRST REGIONAL CONFERENCE.
It was a successful conference, with 81 works presented from diverse disciplines within psychology, and 458 attendees from 14 countries in America, carrying the motto: TOWARDS THE DISCOVERY OF A NEW REGIONAL PSYCHOLOGY.
Guatemala was elected as the venue for the XXXII CIP while under the frame of the XXX CIP in Argentina. On the 16th of November 2007, in Guatemala City, Dr. Andrés J. Consoli, PRESIDENT OF THE INTERAMERICAN SOCIETY OF PSYHCOLOGY, made the official delivery of the SIP flag to the Mag. María del Pilar Grazioso, President of the ORGANIZING COMMITTEE of the XXXII Interamerican Psychological Conference of the Interamerican Society of Psychology; PSYCHOLOGY: A ROUTE TOWARDS PEACE AND DEMOCRACY.
At this event Dr. Consoli emphasized that this Conference is the live expression of a psychological discipline that is characterized by its social importance, which allows us to meet the most urgent needs of our people.
The work of the Board of Directors, Organizing Committee and members of the SIP is to integrate efforts to reach social, economic and political resources necessary to achieve and realize the vision, mission and objectives of the XXXII CIP.
The Conference will provide a space through which the complete affirmation of the many cultures of identities in all of their expressions, will reflect a rainbow of multi-handedly woven “huipiles” (traditional embroidered dresses worn by Indian women) THAT COME TO MEET OTHER INTERAMERICAN REGIONAL IDENTITIES.
