Capsule Endoscopy

1. Do not eat or drink for 8 hours prior to undergoing your Capsule Endoscopy.
2. For males: On the day prior to the Capsule Endoscopy, shave your abdomen 6 inches above and below the navel. If it is difficult for you to shave your abdomen, please contact your physician’s office to arrange to come in earlier to have this done.
3. Please arrive at your physician’s office at the prescribed time for your Capsule Endoscopy.
4. At your physician’s office, the Sensor Array will be applied to your abdomen with adhesive pads and will be connected to the Given® Data Recorder which is worn on a belt around your waist. You will then be instructed to ingest the M2A® Capsule.
5. After ingesting the M2A® Capsule, do not eat or drink for 2 hours. After 2 hours you may drink water. After four hours you may have a light snack. After completion of the study, you may return to your normal diet. Contact your physician immediately if you have any abdominal pain, nausea or vomiting anytime after ingesting the M2A® Capsule.
6. After ingesting the M2A® Capsule and until it is excreted, you should not be near any source of powerful electromagnetic fields such as one created near an MRI device or amateur (ham) radio.
7. Occasionally, some images may be lost due to radio interference (e.g. from amateur radio transmitter, MRI, etc.). On rare occasions this may result in the need to repeat the capsule procedure. In such a case, the Doctor will advise you to stay within the premises of the clinic for the duration of the capsule procedure to prevent this problem from recurring.
8. The Capsule Endoscopy will last 8 hours. During the Capsule Endoscopy try to avoid any strenuous physical activity. Do not bend or stoop during the Capsule Endoscopy. In addition, you should not remove the belt at any time during this period.

Endoscopia por Cápsula
Amostra:
1. Não ingerir alimentos ou líquidos 8 horas antes de se submeter à Endoscopia por Cápsula.
2. Para indivíduos do sexo masculino: no dia anterior à realização da Endoscopia por Cápsula, raspe com lâmina de barbear o seu abdomen 15 cm acima e abaixo do seu umbigo. Se sua execução for muito difícil, por favor entre em contato com o consultório do seu médico para marcar uma hora mais cedo para raspar seu abdomen.
3. Por favor, chegue no consultório do seu médico na hora marcada para a realização da Endoscopia por Cápsula.
4. No consultório do seu médico, um conjunto de sensores serão fixados no seu abdomen através de adesivos. Estes serão conectados ao Given® Data Recorder ( banco de dados) que fica preso em você através de um cinto que é colocado na sua cintura. A seguir você deverá ingerir a M2A® Capsule (câmera digital do tamanho de uma cápsula de remédio)
5. Após a ingestão da M2A® Capsule, não coma ou beba por um período de 2 horas. Depois desse período, você pode beber água. 4 horas depois de ingerida a cápsula, você pode consumir uma refeição leve. Uma vez finalizado o estudo, você pode voltar aos seus hábitos alimentares normais. Entre em contato com o seu médico imediatamente caso apresente dores abdominais, mal estar ou ânsia de vômito a qualquer instante após a ingestão da M2A® Capsule.
6. Após a ingestão da M2A® Capsule e até a sua eliminação, não se aproxime de qualquer tipo de fonte de campo magnético intenso, como por exemplo um campo magnético criado por um instrumento de imagem por ressonância magnética (IRM) ou de radioamadorismo.
7. Em alguns casos, algumas imagens podem se perder devido à interferência por ondas de rádio ( por exemplo através de transmissores de radiocomunicações , IRM, etc...). Por causa disso, em ocasiões raras, pode ser necessário a repetição do procedimento de ingestão da cápsula. Neste caso, o médico vai lhe aconselhar que permaneça das dependências do consultório durante o procedimento de ingestão da cápsula a fim de prevenir a recorrência desse problema.
8. A Endoscopia por Cápsula tem duração de 8 horas. Durante o procedimento procure evitar qualquer tipo de atividade física pesada. Não se flexione ou se agache durante a endoscopia. Além disso, não tire o cinto durante o procedimento até a conclusão do exame.
