Antragsgegenstand und Testmethoden:
in einer praxissimulierenden Laborstudie sollte die ovizide und larvizide Wirkung des Produktes XXX als Umgebungsspray zur Infestationsverhinderung nicht infestierter Versuchstiere gegen Ct. felis ermittelt werden.
Zur Haltung und artgerechten Versorgung von Versuchs- und Kontrollgruppen über die Versuchsdauer hinweg wurden für die Hunde und Katzen in einem Lagergebäude der Außenstation Anemonensee vier räumlich getrennte Quarantänezwinger mit je ca. 13 m² Grundfläche und 2,20 m Höhe neu errichtet. Zu diesem Zweck wurde das bestehende Gebäude mittels mobiler Trennwände umgebaut, mit Schiffböden aus gehobeltem, sonst unbehandeltem Holz versehen, die auf dem vorhandenen Estrich ausgelegt wurden und bei Versorgung und Transfer streng darauf geachtet, dass keine Kontakte zwischen Versuchs- und Kontrollgruppen zustande kamen.
Vor Versuchsbeginn wurden die zwei für die Hunde vorgesehenen Räume mit Liegematten aus Neoprenschaum von 0,80 x 1.20 m Ausmaß und die zwei für die Katzen vorgesehenen Räume mit flachen Körben aus Weidengeflecht, darin ausgelegt ein Polster aus Polyestervlies, ausgestattet. Dieselben Matten und Körbe wurden unverändert auch für die 2. Versuchsreihe verwendet.
Für beide Testreihen fanden, vom Tierschutzhaus Wr. Neustadt zur Verfügung gestellte und vom dortigen Veterinär als flohfrei freigegebene Hunde und Katzen Verwendung, wobei kleinwüchsige Tiere mit möglichst glattem Haarkleid bevorzugt wurden, um die Auszählung möglicher Infestation zu erleichtern.
Die Versuchstiere wurden vom gewohnten Personal des Tierschutzhauses über die Versuchsdauer hinweg betreut und versorgt. Die Auswertung wurde vom zuständigen Tierarzt unter Hilfestellung des Betreuungspersonals vorgenommen und vom Leiter Qualitätskontrolle dokumentiert, der auch die permanente Überwachung der Versuchsanordnungen überwachte.
In jedem der vier verschließbaren Versuchsräume. die wie folgt bezeichnet wurden:
VR – VGH = Versuchsraum – Versuchsgruppe Hunde
VR – VGK = Versuchsraum – Versuchsgruppe Katzen
KR – KGH = Kontrollgruppe – Hunde
KR – KGK = Kontrollgruppe – Katzen
wurden am Vorabend des jeweiligen Versuchsbeginnes, also am 19.05.2001 und am 28.06.2001 je 100 Ovae und je 50 Larvae Ct. felis über Böden und Liegematten, bzw. Katzenkörbe wahllos ausgebracht. Das Versuchsgut „Metamorphosen Ctenocephalides“ stammte aus einer spezialisierten Laborzucht und wurde von einem Fachmann vorbereitet, wobei dieser stichprobenweise die Keimfähigkeit der eingesetzten Ovae im Vorversuch überprüfte.

Anschließend wurden die Liegematten, Katzenkörbe mit Polstern und die Böden in den Versuchsräumen VR - VGH und VR - VGK volldeckend feucht mit 3 ml/m² XXX behandelt (gleichmäßig besprüht), wobei insbesondere darauf geachtet
wurde, dass die Ritzen der Holzfußböden und der Boden unter den Liegeplätzen ebenfalls behandelt wurden.
Am Morgen des jeweils ersten Versuchstages, also am 20.05.2001 und 29.06.2001 wurden dann die 3 Hunde der VGH in den Raum VR – VGH, die 3 Hunde der KGH in KR – KGH, die 3 Katzen der VGK in VR – VGK und die 3 Katzen der KGK in KR – KGK gebracht, wo sie dann die jeweils 10-wöchige Testzeit blieben. Jeder Raum wurde ausschließlich von einem eigenen Betreuer zwecks Fütterung, Entleerung der Katzenklo´s und täglichen zweimaligen Ausgang der Hunde verwaltet, wobei streng darauf geachtet wurde, externe Infestationen durch Vertragen von Eiern über Schuhsohlen, Flöhen über die Kleidung oder Kontakt der Versuchs- und Kontrolltiere untereinander, bzw. Kontakt mit Fremdtieren zu vermeiden.
Alle Versuchstiere (VGH und VGK) wurden jeweils nach Ablauf jeder Versuchswoche streng separiert im weiß gefliesten Laborbad mittels Flohkamm nach der Methode Gregory et.al. auf Flohbefall untersucht. Die jeweils aufgefundenen Parasiten sollten ausgezählt, dokumentiert und extern vernichtet werden. Adulte und Larvae sollten in Summe als Flohbefall ausgezählt und nicht separat ausgewiesen werden, da die Unterscheidung nur von einem absoluten Fachmann zu treffen ist und bei dieser Versuchsanordnung dafür keinerlei Relevanz gegeben war. Nach Versuchssende sollten die 10 Einzelprotokolle je Versuchstier addiert und als Gesamtbefall ausgewiesen werden.
Dieser Raum wurde nach dem Kontrollgang jeder Gruppe mit LäuseUmgebungsSpray ausgesprüht und mit einem Dampfstrahler penibel gesäubert.

Subject of the application and test methods:
in a practically simulated laboratory study, the effects of XXX on eggs and larvae when used as an environmental spray for prevention infestation of unaffected test animals against Ct. felis were to be observed.
For the appropriate care of the test and control groups during the test period, four separately divided quarantine kennels each approx. 13 m² in area and 2.20 m high were erected for dogs and cats in a warehouse of the Anemonensee outstation. For this purpose the existing building was re-built with mobile dividing walls, floors of planed but untreated wood that were laid on the existing paved flooring and during the care and transfer great care was taken that no contact existed between the test and control groups.
Before commencement of the test period, the two rooms allocated for the dogs were fitted with Neoprene foam mats measuring 0.80 x 1.20 m and the two rooms allocated for the cats were fitted with flat wicker baskets lined with a padding of polyester fleece. These mats and baskets were used unchanged for the 2 test series.
For both test series flea-free approved dogs and cats were used from the XXX and wherever possible short smooth-haired dogs were selected to simplify the recording of infestation.
The experimental subjects were cared for by the usual staff of the animal welfare home during the test period. The analysis was carried out by a competent veterinary doctor with the assistance of care personnel and documented by the Head of Quality Control, who also monitored the permanent supervision of the test arrangements.
In each of the lockable test rooms, which were labelled as follows:
VR – VGH = Test room – dog test group
VR – VGK = Test room – cat test group
KR – KGH = Control group - dogs
KR – KGK = Control group - cats
On the previous evening of the respective test commencement date, i.e. on 19.05.2001 and 28.06.2001, 100 ova and 50 larvae of Ct. felis were randomly introduced to each, on the floors and the mats and the cats’ baskets. The research group ”Metamorphosen Ctenocephalides“ originated from specialized laboratory breeding and was prepared by a specialist and was spot-checked for the germination capacity of the laid ova in preliminary tests.

Finally, the mats, cat baskets with padding and the floors in the test rooms VR - VGH and VR – VGK were completely dampened by treating with 3 ml/m² of XXX (evenly sprayed), paying particular attention to
ridges in the wooden floor and the floor under the sleeping areas.
On the morning of the first study day i.e. 20.05.2001 and 29.06.2001, the 3 VGH dogs were brought into room VR – VGH, the 3 KGH dogs brought into KR – KGH, the 3 VGK cats brought into VR – VGK and the 3 KGK cats brought into KR – KGK, where they then remained for the 10 week test period. Each room was administered exclusively by one carer with regard to feeding, emptying of cat litter and walking the dogs twice a day, whereby strict controls were in place to control any possible external infestation via carrying of eggs on shoe soles, fleas on clothing or contact of animals amongst each other including contact with other animals.
All experimental subjects (VGH und VGK) were, after the completion of each test week, each separately checked with a flea comb for incidents of fleas according to the methods of Gregory et. al. in a white tiled laboratory bathroom. The parasites found in each case were counted, documented and destroyed externally. Adults and larvae were counted in the total of flea incidents and not separately accounted for, as the difference could only be decided by a real expert and had no real relevance for this test arrangement. At the end of the study the 10 individual records of each of the experimental subjects were added together and brought together as a grand total.
The rooms were respectively sprayed with XXX and fastidiously cleaned with a steam blast cleaner.

The results shown clearly that the deliberate use of the XXX as an environmental spray is 100% effective in preventing infestation of dogs and cats with placed larva and eggs of cat fleas and that this effect can be labelled as larvicide and ovicide.

IBC Amsterdam. Einen technologischen Quantensprung für das interaktive Fernsehen stellt das österreichische Unternehmen XXX auf der IBC in Amsterdam vor. Der größte europäische Hersteller von Infrarotfern-bedienungen ist damit der erste Anbieter eines kabellosen Rückkanals für interaktive Fernsehangebote wie Wetten, Spiele, Shopping und Werbung. Ferdinand Maier, XXX Geschäftsführer: „Mit unserer Entwicklung werden wir die Medienwelt verändern, jetzt gibt es die Möglichkeit für jedermann auf einfachem Wege ohne Zeitverzögerung mit den TV-Inhalten und –angeboten in Interaktion zu treten“. XXX presents the first remote control with wireless feedback channel
IBC Amsterdam. The Austrian company XXX presents a technological quantum leap for interactive television at the IBC Amsterdam. The largest European manufacturer of infrared remote controls becomes the first to offer a wireless feedback channel device for interactive television services such as weather, shopping and advertisements. The wireless feedback channel project was conducted by Prof. XXX and his team from the Human Computer Interaction and Usability department at the University of XXX. “Our task is, to
optimise user acceptance, using usability engineering methods during the entire system development and by working at the highest possible levels of user-friendliness” states university prof. XXX, who has worked for Nokia, SAP, IBM and Mobilkom Austria. “We explore the situation and role of the user of a wireless feedback channel device, based on the newest scientific knowledge.”
