CREDO AND PROFESSIONAL PRACTICE

Every text is a world of its own.
It has its own integrity and most often its own homogeneity.
My work is based on a deep respect for the particular world of text I am introduced to.
I try to be true to the ideas presented and follow their own logic.
At the same time, I am continuously aware of the processes of communication involved in each translation in terms of sender, target groups and contexts.

First and foremost, my translations are functional in the intended communication process and context.
Secondarily, I strive to deliver products which are also aesthetic and stylish and likely to inspire the reader to continue reading. In order to accomplish this professional mission, I draw intensely on personal experience, culture-specific insight and networking, and fortunately I enjoy a high level of linguistic sensitivity and musicality.

Even with good CAT tools, I believe you cannot deliver a high quality translation/interpretation without culture-specific insight, subject specialization and thorough research for each project. These practices are my hallmarks. I communicate intensively with my clients on all jobs. And I value flexibility and feedback.


PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

My professional experience includes:

Translation to/from Danish, Spanish, English, Norwegian (4+ years).
Teaching English, Danish and Spanish (2 years).
Scientific research in the fields of: Anthropology, Sociology, Latin American studies, development studies, identities, ethnicity, gender, and political culture. Mainly in a Latin American context (3+ years).
Development work in Central America, focusing on local development, democratic participation and the dynamics of poverty (3+ years).
Public administration, information work and co-ordination of exchanges in Spanish, Danish and multilingual working environments (3 years).
Volunteer co-ordination of inter-cultural exchanges (12+ years).


ABOUT ME

As a person, I am extrovert, communicative and creative.

As a professional, I am probably known mostly for my thorough approach, my eye for detail, and a high level of flexibility and adaptability in terms of other people´s needs, views and perspectives.

I am passionate about Spanish/Latin American - Scandinavian communications, languages, social sciences research and solidarity work.

Writing, reading and exchanging opinions are essential to my personal development.
