YYY, the leading provider of e-Business solutions across the supply chain, has announced that it has won the contract to provide a pan-European supply chain solution for petrochemicals company XXX, a joint venture of Union Carbide Corporation and Enichem. HIGH RISK OF CEREBRAL-VEIN THROMBOSIS IN CARRIERS OF A PROTHROMBIN-GENE MUTATION AND IN USERS OF ORAL CONTRACEPTIVES
ABSTRACT
Background Idiopathic cerebral-vein thrombosis can cause serious neurologic disability. We evaluated risk factors for this disorder, including genetic risk factors (mutations in the genes encoding factor V and prothrombin) and nongenetic risk factors (such as the use of oral contraceptive agents).
Methods We compared the prevalence of these risk factors in 40 patients with cerebral-vein thrombosis, 80 patients with deep-vein thrombosis of the lower extremities, and 120 healthy controls. The G1691A mutation in the factor V gene and the G20210A prothrombin-gene mutation, which are established genetic risk factors for venous thrombosis, were studied. We also assessed the use of oral contraceptives and other risk factors for thrombosis.
Results The prevalence of the prothrombin-gene mutation was higher in patients with cerebral-vein thrombosis (20 percent) than in healthy controls (3 percent; odds ratio, 10.2; 95 percent confidence interval, 2.3 to 31.0) and was similar to that in patients with deep-vein thrombosis (18 percent). Similar results were obtained for the mutation in the factor V gene. The use of oral contraceptives was more frequent among women with cerebral-vein thrombosis (95 percent) than among controls (32 percent; odds ratio, 22.1; 95 percent confidence interval, 5.9 to 84.2) and among those with deep-vein thrombosis (61 percent; odds ratio, 4.4; 95 percent confidence interval, 1.1 to 17.8). For women who were taking oral contraceptives and who also had the prothrombin-gene mutation (seven patients with cerebral-vein thrombosis but only one control), the odds ratio for cerebral-vein thrombosis rose to 149.3 (95 percent confidence interval, 31.0 to 711.0).

L'uso di contraccettivi orali si è rivelato più frequente tra le pazienti con trombosi venosa cerebrale (96%) che tra le pazienti del gruppo di controllo (32%; odds ratio: 22,1; intervallo di confidenza al 95%, tra 5,9 e 84,2) o le pazienti con trombosi venosa profonda (61%, odds ratio: 4,4; intervallo di confidenza al 95%, tra 1,1 e 17,8). Per le pazienti che stavano facendo uso di contraccettivi orali e che erano anche portatrici della mutazione nel gene della protrombina (sette pazienti con trombosi venosa cerebrale ma solo una paziente di controllo) l'odds ratio per la trombosi venosa cerebrale è salita a 149,3 (intervallo di confidenza al 95%, tra 31,0 e 711,0).

(1) XXX VITA S.P.A. (“XXX”); and
(2) YYY, LONDON BRANCH (“YYY”).
WHEREAS:
(1) By a transaction between XXX and YYY and confirmed by a confirmation dated [___] November 2000 (the “Confirmation”), XXX has agreed to pay to YYY certain sums denominated in euro and YYY has agreed to pay to XXX, subject to certain conditions, a sum denominated in euro (the “Transaction”).
(2) This Agreement will supplement, form a part of and be subject to an agreement in the form of the 1992 ISDA Master Agreement (Multicurrency - Cross Border) (the “Swap Agreement”) upon its execution by XXX and YYY. Until XXX and YYY execute and deliver the Swap Agreement, this Agreement supplements, forms a part of, and is subject to, an agreement in the form of the 1992 ISDA Master Agreement (Multicurrency - Cross Border) as if XXX and YYY had executed an agreement in such form (but without any Schedule except for the election of English law as the governing law and USD as the Termination Currency) (the “ISDA Master Agreement”) on the Trade Date of the Transaction. Football has been an obsession for me for as long as I can remember. I used to search the streets of my neighbourhood, Bento Ribeiro, looking for a game.
I always got a lot of support from my parents. I think the always knew I was going to dedicate my life to football. My mother used to make sure that I went to school but both my parents knew that I wasn’t going to go to college to become a doctor or something. There was never a doubt that I wanted to be a football player.
Ronaldo’s Mother:
Even as a toddler Ronaldo played football in the streets of our neighbourhood. It was a problem for me in the beginning because I didn’t like him to be out running the streets all day. But there was no point trying to stop him. He always found an excuse to run off and play his matches.
He wouldn’t do anything else. He gave up playing with his other toys. If it wasn’t football, he wanted nothing to do with it. My biggest problem was trying to keep him in class instead of on the streets playing football. | Translation - Italian

Mia madre controllava che andassi a scuola, ma sia lei che mio padre sapevano che non avrei mai frequentato il college per laurearmi. Non c‘era dubbio che volevo fare il calciatore.

Sin da bambino Ronaldo giocava a calcio per le strade del nostro quartiere. All’inizio per me è stato un problema perché non volevo che stesse in giro per strada tutto il giorno. Ma era inutile cercare di fermarlo. Trovava sempre una scusa per scappare di casa e andare a fare le sue partite.
Non faceva nient’altro. Aveva messo da parte ogni altro giocattolo. Se non era un pallone, non voleva saperne. Il mio problema più grande è stato cercare di farlo stare in classe invece che per la strada a giocare a calcio.
