Eine aktuelle Umfrage zeigt die besonders hohe Abwanderung von gut ausgebildeten Fachkräften aus Deutschland. 161.000 deutsche Staatsangehörige verließen, so das statistische Bundesamt, im Jahr 2007 das Land, die höchste Zahl seit 1954. Wie das Institut Prognos im Auftrag des Wirtschaftsministeriums jetzt herausfand, wandern vor allem junge, männliche und kinderlose Akademiker aus, insgesamt waren es 83% der 1410 Befragten. Jeder fünfte deutsche „Wirtschaftsflüchtling“ hat eine Hochschulausbildung in Mathematik, Informatik, Naturwissenschaften oder Technik und gehört damit einer Berufsgruppe an, in der in Deutschland ohnehin Mangel herrscht. Als Hauptgründe für die Emigration wurden schlechte Karriereperspektiven, geringes Einkommen, hohe Steuern und drohende Arbeitslosigkeit genannt. | Translation - English

German academics seek prosperity elsewhere
A new survey has shown that a particularly high proportion of well educated skilled workers are leaving Germany in seek of better work. The survey, conducted by the German statistics agency, says that 161.000 German citizens left the country in 2007; the largest amount since 1954. 83% of the 1410 emigrants interviewed by the institution Prognos, who carried out an additional survey for the ministry of economics, were young academic males with no children. Every fifth German “economical refugee” has a degree in the natural sciences, computer technology or maths, a group of skilled workers that is under-proportionally represented in Germany anyway. Main reasons given for emigration were low salaries, high taxes, looming unemployment and the general bad prospects for careers. |
