| Translation - English The capacity of existing water treatment facilities is inadequate and plans for construction of additional facilities are necessary. The question is, what water purification technologies should be used? Each of the regional systems has different requirements. North Croatia has successfully used the existing technologies to remove iron, manganese, and ammonium. But there is still no satisfactory and generally acceptable solution for the removal of arsenic and organic matter from water. On the other hand, the karstic springs of the coastline are mostly troubled by occasional onsets of turbidity, organic matter, sulfates, bacterial contaminants as well as the incrustation problem of water supply systems. |
