Descripción: La psicología clínica es una rama de la psicología que se encarga de conocer el funcionamiento psicológico (pensamiento, afecto, conducta) normal y patológico del ser humano, dirigida especialmente al diagnostico y tratamiento de las psicopatologías. Dentro del ámbito de la medicina, y para efectos de este curso llamamos “psicología clínica” a todos los aspectos relacionados con los procesos psicológicos y la dinámica emocional de los pacientes (y su familia) en relación a la enfermedad del primero, así como los procesos psicológicos y afectivos vividos en el equipo de salud en relación a la atención de los enfermos y el curso de la enfermedad.
Objetivo: El objetivo de la cátedra es entregar a las alumnas y alumnos de enfermería elementos que les permitan conocer e identificar procesos psicológicos básicos, así como intervenir frente a las reacciones y consecuencias psicológicos y emocionales de los enfermos, ya sea como efecto directo de la enfermedad o bien de la situación de hospitalización. Así también, deberán ser capaces de identificar e intervenir sobre los efectos psicológicos y emocionales que la situación de enfermedad del paciente genera en su familia y los miembros del equipo de salud.

Description: The clinical psychology is a branch of psychology that urges to know the psychological function (thought, affects, conduct) normal and pathological of the human being, especially directed to diagnostics and treatment of psychopathologies. Inside the medical environment, and for purposes of this course, we will call it "clinical psychology" to all the aspects related with the psychological process and the emotional dynamic of the patients (and their families) in relation to the sickness of the first, as well as the psychological process and vivid affects in the health team in relation to the attention of the ill persons and the course of his/her sickness.
Objective: The objective of the cathedra is to convey to the nursing students the elements that permits them to know and to identify basic psychological processes, as well as to intervene in front of the psychological and emotional reactions and consequences of the ill, either as a direct effect of his/her illness or either for the good of the situation of hospitalization. This way also, they should be capable to identify and to intervene about the psychological and emotional effects that the situation of the patient’s illness generates in his/her family and in the members of the health team.
