General
The evaporator serves as a heat exchanger between the surrounding air and the refrigerant in the air conditioning system.
Function
The evaporator is located in the evaporator housing and operates like a heat exchanger, it consists of numerous cooling coils connected by fins. As the high pressure liquid refrigerant metered by the expansion valve or the fixed orifice tube is injected into the evaporator, it is no longer under pressure. The evaporating temperature of the liquid refrigerant at this pressure is below that of the air passing across the evaporator. Therefore, the refrigerant absorbs heat from the air and evaporates into a vapour, thus cooling the air
Effects of Failure
A damaged or defective evaporator can have the following effects:
* No cooling capacity
* Failure of air conditioning
* Low fan output
Failure can result from various causes:
* Pipelines in evaporator clogged
* Evaporator leaking (at connections, from damage)
* Evaporator dirty (air flow impeded)
Diagnostics
The following test steps should be taken into consideration for troubleshooting:
* Check evaporator for contamination
* Check evaporator for damage
* Ensure that connections lines are properly seated
* Check for leakage
* Check pressure with compressor switched on and engine running
* Measure temperature at inlet and outlet lines

Manfaat
Evaporator terdiri dari beberapa kumparan pendingin yang digandengkan dengan sirip terletak di dalam rumah evaporator yang bertugas sebagai penukar kalor. Pada saat refrigeran cair tekanan tinggi yang diukur oleh katup ekspansi atau tabung lubang yang terpasang tetap (fixed orifice tube) dimasukkan ke dalam evaporator, maka tekanannya akan hilang sama sekali. Suhu menguapkan refrigeran cair pada tekanan ini lebih rendah dibanding saat udara melintas evaporator. Oleh sebab itu, refrigeran ini menyerap panas dari udara lalu menguapkannya menjadi embun dengan cara mendinginkan udara.
Akibat kerusakan
Evaporator yang rusak atau tidak sempurna dapat menyebabkan masalah berikut ini:
* Tidak sanggup mendinginkan
* Tidak berfungsinya dengan baik pengkondisi udara
* Daya yang dihasilkan fan rendah
Kerusakan dapat diakibatkan dari beberapa penyebab:
* Saluran pipa di dalam evaporator tersumbat
* Terjadi kebocoran di evaporator (pada sambungan karena rusak)
* Evaporator kotor (udara tidak dapat mengalir dengan baik)
Diagnosa
Langkah pengujian berikut ini harus dilaksanakan guna mengatasi gangguan:
* Periksa kemungkinan kontaminasi pada evaporator
* Periksa kerusakan pada evaporator
* Sambungan pipa harus berada pada dudukan yang benar
* Periksa adanya kebocoran

The standard of greasing plays an important role in determining the working life of the machine. Regular greasing, done properly, reduces wear on rotating and sliding parts and promises smooth operation. It also delivers safety and economy. Follow the points below strictly and observe the set intervals.
• Before greasing, clean the grease nipples and their surroundings thoroughly so there is no opportunity for water or debris to enter.
• When injecting grease force the old grease out and fill all pins, bushes and bearings with new grease. After greasing move the joints without load to spread the grease.
• Important. Be aware that items like the Wheel bearing housings can become pressurized if too much grease is inserted. This will result in poor movement.
• Use the grease specified for each individual location and when you top up with extra grease make sure you use the same brand and grade of grease as the original.
• Mixing greases of different brands or grades can cause chemical reactions and the grease will not have the required lubricating effect which can cause ill efeects.
• The lubrication intervals are set to be appropriate for this machine under normal conditions. Lubricate more frequently in harsh conditions.

• Harap diperhatikan. Item seperti rumah bantalan pada Roda dapat memaksa tekanan besar jika gemuk terlampau banyak dimasukkan. Sehingga terjadi gerak yang tidak diharapkan.
• Gunakan gemuk yang sudah ditetapkan untuk setiap lokasi nipel dan ketika Anda isi dengan gemuk tambahan, yakinkan Anda menggunakan merek dan grade gemuk yang sama seperti aslinya.
• Mencampur gemuk yang berlainan merek dan grade dapat menyebabkan terjadinya reaksi kimia dan gemuk tersebut tidak akan berfaedah dalam melumas seperti yang diharapkan. Malah dapat mengakibatkan dampak yang membahayakan.
• Selang waktu pelumasan diatur yang sepantasnya untuk mesin ini pada kondisi normalnya. Lumas lebih sering bila dirasakan mesin berjalan kasar.
